1A Psalm. --A Song for the sabbath-day. Good to give thanks to Jehovah, And to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High,
1 It is good to give thanks unto Jehovah, and to sing psalms unto thy name, O Most High;
1 It is a good thing to give praise to the Lord, and to make melody to your name, O Most High;
2To declare in the morning Thy kindness, And Thy faithfulness in the nights.
2 To declare thy loving-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness in the nights,
2To make clear your mercy in the morning, and your unchanging faith every night;
3On ten strings and on psaltery, On higgaion, with harp.
3 Upon an instrument of ten strings and upon the lute; upon the Higgaion with the harp.
3On a ten-corded instrument, and on an instrument of music with a quiet sound.
4For Thou hast caused me to rejoice, O Jehovah, in Thy work, Concerning the works of Thy hands I sing.
4 For thou, Jehovah, hast made me glad through thy work; I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
4For you, O Lord, have made me glad through your work; I will have joy in the works of your hands.
5How great have been Thy works, O Jehovah, Very deep have been Thy thoughts.
5 Jehovah, how great are thy works! Thy thoughts are very deep:
5O Lord, how great are your works! and your thoughts are very deep.
6A brutish man doth not know, And a fool understandeth not this; --
6 A brutish man knoweth not, neither doth a fool understand it.
6A man without sense has no knowledge of this; and a foolish man may not take it in.
7When the wicked flourish as a herb, And blossom do all workers of iniquity--For their being destroyed for ever and ever!
7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity flourish, it is that they may be destroyed for ever.
7When the sinners come up like the grass, and all the workers of evil do well for themselves, it is so that their end may be eternal destruction.
8And Thou <FI>art<Fi> high to the age, O Jehovah.
8 And thou, Jehovah, art on high for evermore.
8But you, O Lord, are on high for ever.
9For, lo, Thine enemies, O Jehovah, For, lo, Thine enemies, do perish, Separate themselves do all workers of iniquity.
9 For lo, thine enemies, O Jehovah, for lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
9For see! your haters, O Lord, will be put to death; all the workers of evil will be put to flight;
10And Thou exaltest as a reem my horn, I have been anointed with fresh oil.
10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like a buffalo's: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
10But my horn is lifted up like the horn of the ox: the best oil is flowing on my head.
11And mine eye looketh on mine enemies, Of those rising up against me, The evil doers, do mine ears hear.
11 And mine eye shall see [its desire] on mine enemies; mine ears shall hear [it] of the evil-doers that rise up against me.
11My eyes have seen trouble come on my haters; my ears have news of the fate of the evil-doers who have come up against me.
12The righteous as a palm-tree flourisheth, As a cedar in Lebanon he groweth.
12 The righteous shall shoot forth like a palm-tree; he shall grow like a cedar on Lebanon.
12The good man will be like a tall tree in his strength; his growth will be as the wide-stretching trees of Lebanon.
13Those planted in the house of Jehovah, In the courts of our God do flourish.
13 Those that are planted in the house of Jehovah shall flourish in the courts of ourGod:
13Those who are planted in the house of the Lord will come up tall and strong in his gardens.
