1It is a good thing to give thanks unto Jehovah, And to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High;

1It is a wonderful thing to give thanks to the LORD and to sing praises to your name, O Most High.

2To show forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, And thy faithfulness every night,

2It is good to tell of your constant love in the morning and your faithfulness every night,

3With an instrument of ten strings, and with the psaltery; With a solemn sound upon the harp.

3to the music of a ten-stringed instrument and a lute, and with the sounding notes of the harp.

4For thou, Jehovah, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

4For you, LORD, have made me happy by what you have done; I will shout for joy because of the works of your hands.

5How great are thy works, O Jehovah! Thy thoughts are very deep.

5How great are your works, LORD! Your thoughts are very deep.

6A brutish man knoweth not; Neither doth a fool understand this:

6A senseless person does not know this, and a fool cannot understand it:

7When the wicked spring as the grass, And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; It is that they shall be destroyed for ever.

7that even though the wicked sprout like grass and all who do evil flourish, they will be destroyed forever.

8But thou, O Jehovah, art on high for evermore.

8But you, LORD, are exalted forever.

9For, lo, thine enemies, O Jehovah, For, lo, thine enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

9For look, your enemies, LORD—look, your enemies will perish; all who do evil will be scattered.

10But my horn hast thou exalted like the horn of the wild-ox: I am anointed with fresh oil.

10But you have made me strong like a wild ox; you have poured fresh oil on me.

11Mine eye also hath seen my desireon mine enemies, Mine ears have heard my desire of the evil-doers that rise up against me.

11My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the end of the wicked people who rise up against me.

12The righteous shall flourish like the palm-tree: He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

12Good people will flourish like a palm tree; they will grow strong like a cedar tree in Lebanon.

13They are planted in the house of Jehovah; They shall flourish in the courts of our God.

13They are planted in the house of the LORD; they will grow strong in the courtyards of our God.

14They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; They shall be full of sap and green:

14They will still produce fruit in their old age; they will remain vital and green.

15To show that Jehovah is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

15This shows that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no wrongdoing in him.
