1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
1He who is dwelling In the secret place of the Most High, In the shade of the Mighty lodgeth habitually,
1A psalm of a canticle on the sabbath day.
2 I say of Jehovah, My refuge and my fortress; myGod, I will confide in him.
2He is saying of Jehovah, `My refuge, and my bulwark, my God, I trust in Him,'
2It is good to give praise to the Lord: and to sing to thy name, O most High.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from the destructive pestilence.
3For He delivereth thee from the snare of a fowler, From a calamitous pestilence.
3To shew forth thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth in the night:
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou find refuge: his truth is a shield and buckler.
4With His pinion He covereth thee over, And under His wings thou dost trust, A shield and buckler <FI>is<Fi> His truth.
4Upon an instrument of ten strings, upon the psaltery: with a canticle upon the harp.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, for the arrow that flieth by day,
5Thou art not afraid of fear by night, Of arrow that flieth by day,
5For thou hast given me, O Lord, a delight in thy doings: and in the works of thy hands I shall rejoice.
6 For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
6Of pestilence in thick darkness that walketh, Of destruction that destroyeth at noon,
6O Lord, how great are thy works! thy thoughts are exceeding deep.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee.
7There fall at thy side a thousand, And a myriad at thy right hand, Unto thee it cometh not nigh.
7The senseless man shall not know: nor will the fool understand these things.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and see the reward of the wicked.
8But with thine eyes thou lookest, And the reward of the wicked thou seest,
8When the wicked shall spring up as grass: and all the workers of iniquity shall appear: That they may perish for ever and ever:
9 Because thou hast made Jehovah, my refuge, the Most High, thy dwelling-place,
9(For Thou, O Jehovah, <FI>art<Fi> my refuge,) The Most High thou madest thy habitation.
9But thou, O Lord, art most high for evermore.
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.
10Evil happeneth not unto thee, And a plague cometh not near thy tent,
10For behold thy enemies, O Lord, for behold thy enemies shall perish: and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
11 For he shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to keep thee in all thy ways:
11For His messengers He chargeth for thee, To keep thee in all thy ways,
11But my horn shall be exalted like that of the unicorn: and my old age in plentiful mercy.
12 They shall bear thee up in [their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12On the hands they bear thee up, Lest thou smite against a stone thy foot.
12My eye also hath looked down upon my enemies: and my ear shall hear of the downfall of the malignant that rise up against me.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under foot.
13On lion and asp thou treadest, Thou trampest young lion and dragon.
13The just shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Libanus.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
14Because in Me he hath delighted, I also deliver him--I set him on high, Because he hath known My name.
14They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.
