1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
1Whoever lives in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.
2I will say to the LORD, 'You are my place of safety and my fortress; you are my God in whom I trust.'
3For he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the deadly pestilence.
3He will surely rescue you from the hidden trap and from the deadly disease.
4He will cover thee with his pinions, And under his wings shalt thou take refuge: His truth is a shield and a buckler.
4He will cover you with his feathers, and you will find safety under his wings; his faithfulness will be your protective shield.
5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, Nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
5You will not need to fear the terrors of the night, nor the arrows that fly during the day.
6For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
6You will not fear the sickness that stalks in the darkness, nor the destruction that strikes at noon.
7A thousand shall fall at thy side, And ten thousand at thy right hand; Butit shall not come nigh thee.
7A thousand people may fall dead at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not touch you.
8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, And see the reward of the wicked.
8You will only look on with your eyes and see how the wicked are punished.
9For thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge! Thou hast made the Most High thy habitation;
9Because you have said, 'The LORD is my refuge,' and you have made the Most High your home,
10There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.
10no evil will happen to you, and no plague will come near your house.
11For he will give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all thy ways.
11For he will order his angels to protect you in everything you do.
12They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12They will hold you up with their hands so that you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: The young lion and the serpent shalt thou trample under foot.
13You will stomp on lions and cobras; you will trample young lions and serpents under your feet.
14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
14The LORD says, 'Because he loves me, I will rescue him; I will protect him because he acknowledges my name.'
