1Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place In all generations.
1A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, a habitation Thou--Thou hast been, To us--in generation and generation,
1 Lord, you have been our resting-place in all generations.
1 Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.
2Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
2Before mountains were brought forth, And Thou dost form the earth and the world, Even from age unto age Thou <FI>art<Fi> God.
2Before the mountains were made, before you had given birth to the earth and the world, before time was, and for ever, you are God.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, and thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from eternity to eternity thou artGod.
3Thou turnest man to destruction, And sayest, Return, ye children of men.
3Thou turnest man unto a bruised thing, And sayest, Turn back, ye sons of men.
3You send man back to his dust; and say, Go back, you children of men.
3 Thou makest [mortal] man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.
4For a thousand years in thy sight Are but as yesterday when it is past, And as a watch in the night.
4For a thousand years in Thine eyes <FI>are<Fi> as yesterday, For it passeth on, yea, a watch by night.
4For to you a thousand years are no more than yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night.
4 For a thousand years, in thy sight, are as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.
5Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
5Thou hast inundated them, they are asleep, In the morning as grass he changeth.
5...
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning they are like grass [that] groweth up:
6In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; In the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
6In the morning it flourisheth, and hath changed, At evening it is cut down, and hath withered.
6In the morning it is green; in the evening it is cut down, and becomes dry.
6 In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.
7For we are consumed in thine anger, And in thy wrath are we troubled.
7For we were consumed in Thine anger, And in Thy fury we have been troubled.
7We are burned up by the heat of your passion, and troubled by your wrath.
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy fury are we troubled.
8Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.
8Thou hast set our iniquities before Thee, Our hidden things at the light of Thy face,
8You have put our evil doings before you, our secret sins in the light of your face.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.
9For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: We bring our years to an end as a sigh.
9For all our days pined away in Thy wrath, We consumed our years as a meditation.
9For all our days have gone by in your wrath; our years come to an end like a breath.
9 For all our days pass away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a [passing] thought.
10The days of our years are threescore years and ten, Or even by reason of strength fourscore years; Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow; For it is soon gone, and we fly away.
10Days of our years, in them <FI>are<Fi> seventy years, And if, by reason of might, eighty years, Yet <FI>is<Fi> their enlargement labour and vanity, For it hath been cut off hastily, and we fly away.
10The measure of our life is seventy years; and if through strength it may be eighty years, its pride is only trouble and sorrow, for it comes to an end and we are quickly gone.
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if, by reason of strength, they be fourscore years, yet their pride is labour and vanity, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11Who knoweth the power of thine anger, And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee?
11Who knoweth the power of Thine anger? And according to Thy fear--Thy wrath?
11Who has knowledge of the power of your wrath, or who takes note of the weight of your passion?
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? and thy wrath according to the fear of thee?
12So teach us to number our days, That we may get us a heart of wisdom.
12To number our days aright let <FI>us<Fi> know, And we bring the heart to wisdom.
12So give us knowledge of the number of our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom.
12 So teach [us] to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.
13Return, O Jehovah; how long? And let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
13Turn back, O Jehovah, till when? And repent concerning Thy servants.
13Come back, O Lord; how long? let your purpose for your servants be changed.
13 Return, Jehovah: how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
14Oh satisfy us in the morning with thy lovingkindness, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
14Satisfy us at morn <FI>with<Fi> Thy kindness, And we sing and rejoice all our days.
14In the morning give us your mercy in full measure; so that we may have joy and delight all our days.
14 Satisfy us early with thy loving-kindness; that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, And the years wherein we have seen evil.
15Cause us to rejoice according to the days Wherein Thou hast afflicted us, The years we have seen evil.
15Make us glad in reward for the days of our sorrow, and for the years in which we have seen evil.
15 Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, according to the years [wherein] we have seen evil.
16Let thy work appear unto thy servants, And thy glory upon their children.
16Let Thy work appear unto Thy servants, And Thine honour on their sons.
16Make your work clear to your servants, and your glory to their children.
16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy majesty unto their sons.
17And let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; And establish thou the work of our hands upon us; Yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
17And let the pleasantness of Jehovah our God be upon us, And the work of our hands establish on us, Yea, the work of our hands establish it!
17Let the pleasure of the Lord our God be on us: O Lord, give strength to the work of our hands.
17 And let the beauty of Jehovah ourGod be upon us; and establish thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.
