1O Jehovah my God, in thee do I take refuge: Save me from all them that pursue me, and deliver me,

1`The Erring One,' by David, that he sung to Jehovah concerning the words of Cush a Benjamite. O Jehovah, my God, in Thee I have trusted, Save me from all my pursuers, and deliver me.

1The psalm of David, which he sung to the Lord, for the words of Chusi, the son of Jemini.

1 O Lord my God, I put my faith in you; take me out of the hands of him who is cruel to me, and make me free;

2Lest they tear my soul like a lion, Rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

2Lest he tear as a lion my soul, Rending, and there is no deliverer.

2O Lord, my God, in thee have I put my trust; save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me.

2So that he may not come rushing on my soul like a lion, wounding it, while there is no one to be my saviour.

3O Jehovah my God, if I have done this; If there be iniquity in my hands;

3O Jehovah, my God, if I have done this, If there is iniquity in my hands,

3Lest at any time he seize upon my soul like a lion, while there is no one to redeem me, nor to save.

3O Lord my God, if I have done this; if my hands have done any wrong;

4If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me (Yea, I have delivered him that without cause was mine adversary);

4If I have done my well-wisher evil, And draw mine adversary without cause,

4O Lord, my God, if I have done this thing, if there be iniquity in my hands:

4If I have given back evil to him who did evil to me, or have taken anything from him who was against me without cause;

5Let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it; Yea, let him tread my life down to the earth, And lay my glory in the dust. [Selah

5An enemy pursueth my soul, and overtaketh, And treadeth down to the earth my life, And my honour placeth in the dust. Selah.

5If I have rendered to them that repaid me evils, let me deservedly fall empty before my enemies.

5Let my hater go after my soul and take it; let my life be crushed to the earth, and my honour into the dust. (Selah.)

6Arise, O Jehovah, in thine anger; Lift up thyself against the rage of mine adversaries, And awake for me; thou hast commanded judgment.

6Rise, O Jehovah, in Thine anger, Be lifted up at the wrath of mine adversaries, And awake Thou for me: Judgment Thou hast commanded:

6Let the enemy pursue my soul, and take it, and tread down my life, on the earth, and bring down my glory to the dust.

6Come up, Lord, in your wrath; be lifted up against my haters; be awake, my God, give orders for the judging.

7And let the congregation of the peoples compass thee about; And over them return thou on high.

7And a company of peoples compass Thee, And over it on high turn Thou back,

7Rise up, O Lord, in thy anger: and be thou exalted in the borders of my enemies. And arise, O Lord, my God, in the precept which thou hast commanded:

7The meeting of the nations will be round you; take your seat, then, over them, on high.

8Jehovah ministereth judgment to the peoples: Judge me, O Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and to mine integrity that is in me.

8Jehovah doth judge the peoples; Judge me, O Jehovah, According to my righteousness, And according to mine integrity on me,

8And a congregation of people shall surround thee. And for their sakes return thou on high.

8The Lord will be judge of the peoples; give a decision for me, O Lord, because of my righteousness, and let my virtue have its reward.

9Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish thou the righteous: For the righteous God trieth the minds and hearts.

9Let, I pray Thee be ended the evil of the wicked, And establish Thou the righteous, And a trier of hearts and reins is the righteous God.

9The Lord judgeth the people. Judge me, O Lord, according to my justice, and according to my innocence in me.

9O let the evil of the evil-doer come to an end, but give strength to the upright: for men's minds and hearts are tested by the God of righteousness.

10My shield is with God, Who saveth the upright in heart.

10My shield <FI>is<Fi> on God, Saviour of the upright in heart!

10The wickedness of sinners shall be brought to nought; and thou shalt direct the just: the searcher of hearts and reins is God. Just

10God, who is the saviour of the upright in heart, is my breastplate.

11God is a righteous judge, Yea, a God that hath indignation every day.

11God <FI>is<Fi> a righteous judge, And He is not angry at all times.

11Is my help from the Lord; who saveth the upright of heart.

11God is the judge of the upright, and is angry with the evil-doers every day.

12If a man turn not, he will whet his sword; He hath bent his bow, and made it ready;

12If <FI>one<Fi> turn not, His sword he sharpeneth, His bow he hath trodden--He prepareth it,

12God is a just judge, strong and patient: is he angry every day?

12If a man is not turned from his evil, he will make his sword sharp; his bow is bent and ready.

13He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; He maketh his arrows fiery shafts.

13Yea, for him He hath prepared Instruments of death, His arrows for burning pursuers He maketh.

13Except you will be converted, he will brandish his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.

13He has made ready for him the instruments of death; he makes his arrows flames of fire.

14Behold, he travaileth with iniquity; Yea, he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

14Lo, he travaileth <FI>with<Fi> iniquity, And he hath conceived perverseness, And hath brought forth falsehood.

14And in it he hath prepared to instruments of death, he hath made ready his arrows for them that burn.

14That man is a worker of evil; the seed of wrongdoing has given birth to deceit.

15He hath made a pit, and digged it, And is fallen into the ditch which he made.

15A pit he hath prepared, and he diggeth it, And he falleth into a ditch he maketh.

15Behold he hath been in labour with injustice: he hath conceived sorrow, and brought forth iniquity.

15He has made a hole deep in the earth, and is falling into the hole which he has made

16His mischief shall return upon his own head, And his violence shall come down upon his own pate.

16Return doth his perverseness on his head, And on his crown his violence cometh down.

16He hath opened a pit and dug it: and he is fallen into the hole he made.

16His wrongdoing will come back to him, and his violent behaviour will come down on his head.

17I will give thanks unto Jehovah according to his righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of Jehovah Most High.

17I thank Jehovah, According to His righteousness, And praise the name of Jehovah Most High!

17His sorrow shall be turned on his own head: and his iniquity shall come down upon his crown.

17I will give praise to the Lord for his righteousness; I will make a song to the name of the Lord Most High.
