1Blessed is he that considereth the poor: Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil.
1 Blessed is he that understandeth the poor: Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil.
1Unto the end, understanding for the sons of Core.
2Jehovah will preserve him, and keep him alive, And he shall be blessed upon the earth; And deliver not thou him unto the will of his enemies.
2 Jehovah will preserve him, and keep him alive; he shall be made happy in the land; and thou wilt not deliver him to the will of his enemies.
2As the hart panteth after the fountains of water; so my soul panteth after thee, O God.
3Jehovah will support him upon the couch of languishing: Thou makest all his bed in his sickness.
3 Jehovah will sustain him upon the bed of languishing: thou turnest all his bed in his sickness.
3My soul hath thirsted after the strong living God; when shall I come and appear before the face of God?
4I said, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me: Heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
4 As for me, I said, Jehovah, be gracious unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
4My tears have been my bread day and night, whilst it is said to me daily: Where is thy God?
5Mine enemies speak evil against me, saying, When will he die, and his name perish?
5 Mine enemies wish me evil: When will he die, and his name perish?
5These things I remembered, and poured out my soul in me: for I shall go over into the place of the wonderful tabernacle, even to the house of God: With the voice of joy and praise; the noise of one feasting.
6And if he come to see me, he speaketh falsehood; His heart gathereth iniquity to itself: When he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
6 And if one come to see [me], he speaketh falsehood; his heart gathereth wickedness to itself: he goeth abroad, he telleth [it].
6Why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou trouble me? Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him: the salvation of my countenance,
7All that hate me whisper together against me; Against me do they devise my hurt.
7 All that hate me whisper together against me; against me do they devise my hurt.
7And my God. My soul is troubled within my self: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan and Hermoniim, from the little hill.
8An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him; And now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
8 A thing of Belial cleaveth fast unto him; and now that he is laid down, he will rise up no more.
8Deep calleth on deep, at the noise of thy flood-gates. All thy heights and thy billows have passed over me.
9Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, Who did eat of my bread, Hath lifted up his heel against me.
9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I confided, who did eat of my bread, hath lifted up [his] heel against me.
9In the daytime the Lord hath commanded his mercy; and a canticle to him in the night. With me is prayer to the God of my life.
10But thou, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me, and raise me up, That I may requite them.
10 But thou, Jehovah, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
10I will say to God: Thou art my support. Why hast thou forgotten me? and why go I mourning, whilst my enemy afflicteth me?
11By this I know that thou delightest in me, Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
11 By this I know that thou delightest in me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
11Whilst my bones are broken, my enemies who trouble me have reproached me; Whilst they say to me day by day: Where is thy God?
12And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, And settest me before thy face for ever.
12 But as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
12Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me? Hope thou in God, for I will still give praise to him: the salvation of my countenance, and my God.
