1I will extol thee, O Jehovah; for thou hast raised me up, And hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

1I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

1Unto the end, a psalm for David, in an ecstasy.

1 I will give you praise and honour, O Lord, because through you I have been lifted up; you have not given my haters cause to be glad over me.

2O Jehovah my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

2O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

2In thee, O Lord, have I hoped, let me never be confounded: deliver me in thy justice.

2O Lord my God, I sent up my cry to you, and you have made me well.

3O Jehovah, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

3O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

3Bow down thy ear to me: make haste to deliver me. Be thou unto me a God, a protector, and a house of refuge, to save me.

3O Lord, you have made my soul come again from the underworld: you have given me life and kept me from going down among the dead.

4Sing praise unto Jehovah, O ye saints of his, And give thanks to his holy memorial name.

4Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

4For thou art my strength and my refuge; and for thy name's sake thou wilt lead me, and nourish me.

4Make songs to the Lord, O you saints of his, and give praise to his holy name.

5For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy cometh in the morning.

5For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

5Thou wilt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me: for thou art my protector.

5For his wrath is only for a minute; in his grace there is life; weeping may be for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

6As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.

6And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.

6Into thy hands I commend my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth.

6When things went well for me I said, I will never be moved.

7Thou, Jehovah, of thy favor hadst made my mountain to stand strong: Thou didst hide thy face; I was troubled.

7Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

7Thou hast hated them that regard vanities, to no purpose. But I have hoped in the Lord:

7Lord, by your grace you have kept my mountain strong: when your face was turned from me I was troubled.

8I cried to thee, O Jehovah; And unto Jehovah I made supplication:

8I cried to thee, O Lord; and unto the Lord I made supplication.

8I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy. For thou hast regarded my humility, thou hast saved my soul out of distresses.

8My voice went up to you, O Lord; I made my prayer to the Lord.

9What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

9What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

9And thou hast not shut me up in the hands of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a spacious place.

9What profit is there in my blood if I go down into the underworld? will the dust give you praise, or be a witness to your help?

10Hear, O Jehovah, and have mercy upon me: Jehovah, be thou my helper.

10Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.

10Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am afflicted: my eye is troubled with wrath, my soul, and my belly:

10Give ear to me, O Lord, and have mercy on me: Lord, be my helper.

11Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; Thou hast loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

11Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

11For my life is wasted with grief: and my years in sighs. My strength is weakened through poverty and my bones are disturbed.

11By you my sorrow is turned into dancing; you have taken away my clothing of grief, and given me robes of joy;

12To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

12To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

12I am become a reproach among all my enemies, and very much to my neighbours; and a fear to my acquaintances. They that saw me without fled from me.

12So that my glory may make songs of praise to you and not be quiet. O Lord my God, I will give you praise for ever.
