1To thee have I lifted up my eyes, who dwellest in heaven.

1 I was glad because they said to me, We will go into the house of the Lord.

2Behold as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters, As the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress: so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until he have mercy on us.

2At last our feet were inside your doors, O Jerusalem.

3Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us: for we are greatly filled with contempt.

3O Jerusalem, you are like a town which is well joined together;

4For our soul is greatly filled: we are a reproach to the rich, and contempt to the proud.

4To which the tribes went up, even the tribes of the Lord, for a witness to Israel, to give praise to the name of the Lord.
