1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers:

1Truly happy is the person who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners lead, or sit among those who mock God.

2But his delight is in the law of Jehovah; And on his law doth he meditate day and night.

2Instead, they find great joy in the teachings of the LORD, and they think about his law day and night.

3And he shall be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That bringeth forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also doth not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

3That person is like a tree planted beside streams of water, which produces fruit at the right time and whose leaves never dry up; whatever they do will succeed.

4The wicked are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

4But the wicked are not like that; they are like the useless husks of grain that the wind blows away.

5Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

5Therefore, the wicked will not be able to stand when they are judged, nor will sinners have a place among those who are right with God.

6For Jehovah knoweth the way of the righteous; But the way of the wicked shall perish.

6For the LORD watches over the path of the righteous, but the path of the wicked leads to ruin.
