1And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

1The LORD said to Moses,

2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall make a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself unto Jehovah,

2"Speak to the people of Israel and tell them: If a man or a woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to set themselves apart for the LORD,

3he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink; he shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any juice of grapes, nor eat fresh grapes or dried.

3they must stay away from wine and other alcoholic drinks. They must not drink vinegar made from wine or other alcohol, and they must not drink any grape juice or eat grapes or raisins.

4All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the grape-vine, from the kernels even to the husk.

4During the entire time of their vow, they must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, not even the seeds or the skins.

5All the days of his vow of separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in which he separateth himself unto Jehovah, he shall be holy; he shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow long.

5During the entire time of their vow, they must not cut their hair. Until the time they set apart for the LORD is finished, they are holy; they must let the hair on their head grow long.

6All the days that he separateth himself unto Jehovah he shall not come near to a dead body.

6During the entire time they are set apart for the LORD, they must not go near a dead body.

7He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die; because his separation unto God is upon his head.

7Even if their own father, mother, brother, or sister dies, they must not make themselves ceremonially unclean, because the symbol of their vow to God is on their head.

8All the days of his separation he is holy unto Jehovah.

8Throughout the entire time of their vow, they are holy to the LORD.

9And if any man die very suddenly beside him, and he defile the head of his separation; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it.

9If someone dies very suddenly beside them, making their dedicated hair unclean, they must shave their head on the day they are purified. They must shave it on the seventh day.

10And on the eighth day he shall bring two turtle-doves, or two young pigeons, to the priest, to the door of the tent of meeting:

10On the eighth day, they must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

11and the priest shall offer one for a sin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering, and make atonement for him, for that he sinned by reason of the dead, and shall hallow his head that same day.

11The priest will offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to make atonement for them, because they sinned by being near the dead body. That same day, they must dedicate their head again.

12And he shall separate unto Jehovah the days of his separation, and shall bring a he-lamb a year old for a trespass-offering; but the former days shall be void, because his separation was defiled.

12They must rededicate the entire time of their vow to the LORD and bring a year-old male lamb as a guilt offering. The previous days of the vow do not count, because their dedication was defiled.

13And this is the law of the Nazirite, when the days of his separation are fulfilled: he shall be brought unto the door of the tent of meeting:

13This is the law for the Nazirite when the time of their vow is over: They must be brought to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

14and he shall offer his oblation unto Jehovah, one he-lamb a year old without blemish for a burnt-offering, and one ewe-lamb a year old without blemish for a sin-offering, and one ram without blemish for peace-offerings,

14There they must present their offering to the LORD: one year-old male lamb without any defects for a burnt offering, one year-old female lamb without any defects for a sin offering, and one ram without any defects for a peace offering.

15and a basket of unleavened bread, cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and their meal-offering, and their drink-offerings.

15They must also bring a basket of bread made without yeast, including cakes of fine flour mixed with olive oil and wafers spread with oil, along with the required grain offerings and drink offerings.

16And the priest shall present them before Jehovah, and shall offer his sin-offering, and his burnt-offering:

16The priest will present these before the LORD and sacrifice the sin offering and the burnt offering.

17and he shall offer the ram for a sacrifice of peace-offerings unto Jehovah, with the basket of unleavened bread: the priest shall offer also the meal-offering thereof, and the drink-offering thereof.

17He will sacrifice the ram as a peace offering to the LORD, along with the basket of bread made without yeast. The priest will also present the grain offering and the drink offering.

18And the Nazirite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the tent of meeting, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it on the fire which is under the sacrifice of peace-offerings.

18Then, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, the Nazirite must shave off the hair they grew for their vow. They will take that hair and put it on the fire that is burning under the peace offering sacrifice.

19And the priest shall take the boiled shoulder of the ram, and one unleavened cake out of the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and shall put them upon the hands of the Nazirite, after he hath shaven the head of his separation;

19After the Nazirite has shaved their head, the priest will take a boiled shoulder of the ram, one cake made without yeast from the basket, and one thin wafer made without yeast, and place them in the Nazirite's hands.

20and the priest shall wave them for a wave-offering before Jehovah; this is holy for the priest, together with the wave-breast and heave-thigh: and after that the Nazirite may drink wine.

20The priest will then lift them up as a special offering before the LORD. These are holy and belong to the priest, along with the breast and the thigh that were presented. After this, the Nazirite may drink wine.

21This is the law of the Nazirite who voweth, and of his oblation unto Jehovah for his separation, besides that which he is able to get: according to his vow which he voweth, so he must do after the law of his separation.

21This is the law for the Nazirite who makes a vow. These are the offerings they must bring to the LORD for their vow, in addition to anything else they can afford. They must fulfill the vow they made according to the law of the Nazirite."

22And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

22The LORD said to Moses,

23Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel: ye shall say unto them,

23"Tell Aaron and his sons: This is how you are to bless the people of Israel. Say to them:

24Jehovah bless thee, and keep thee:

24'May the LORD bless you and protect you.

25Jehovah make his face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

25May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you.

26Jehovah lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

26May the LORD look at you with favor and give you peace.'

27So shall they put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

27When they use my name to bless the people of Israel in this way, I will personally bless them."
