Numbers 4

1And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

2Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, by their families, by their fathers’ houses,

2Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, according to their fathers' houses,

2`Take up the sum of the sons of Kohath from the midst of the sons of Levi, by their families, by the house of their fathers;

2Let the sons of Kohath, from among the sons of Levi, be numbered by their families, in the order of their fathers' houses;

3from thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter upon the service, to do the work in the tent of meeting.

3from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, all that enter into the service, to do the work in the tent of meeting.

3from a son of thirty years and upward, even till a son of fifty years, every one going in to the host, to do work in the tent of meeting.

3All those from thirty to fifty years old who are able to do the work of the Tent of meeting.

4This is the service of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting, about the most holy things:

4This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting: it is most holy.

4`This <FI>is<Fi> the service of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting, the holy of holies:

4And this is to be the work of the sons of Kohath in connection with the most holy things.

5when the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall go in, and his sons, and they shall take down the veil of the screen, and cover the ark of the testimony with it,

5And when the camp setteth forward, Aaron and his sons shall go in, and they shall take down the veil of separation and cover the ark of testimony with it;

5that Aaron and his sons have come in, in the journeying of the camp, and have taken down the vail of the hanging, and have covered with it the ark of the testimony;

6and shall put thereon a covering of sealskin, and shall spread over it a cloth all of blue, and shall put in the staves thereof.

6and have put on it a covering of badger skin, and have spread a garment completely of blue above, and have placed its staves.

6And putting over it the leather cover and over that a blue cloth; and putting its rods in place.

7And upon the table of showbread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls and the cups wherewith to pour out; and the continual bread shall be thereon:

7And on the table of the holy bread they are to put a blue cloth, and on it all the vessels, the spoons and the basins and the cups; and the holy bread with them;

8and they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of sealskin, and shall put in the staves thereof.

8And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover it with a covering of badgers' skin, and shall put its staves [to it].

8and they have spread over them a garment of scarlet, and have covered it with a covering of badger skin, and have placed its staves,

8And over them they are to put a red cloth, covering it with a leather cover, and putting its rods in their places.

9And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and its lamps, and its snuffers, and its snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they minister unto it:

9And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and its lamps, and its snuffers, and its snuff-trays, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they perform its service;

9and have taken a garment of blue, and have covered the candlestick of the lamp, and its lights, and its snuffers, and its snuff-dishes, and all its oil vessels wherewith they minister to it;

9And they are to take a blue cloth, covering with it the light-support with its lights and its instruments and its trays and all the oil vessels which are used for it:

10and they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of sealskin, and shall put it upon the frame.

10and they shall put it and all the utensils thereof within a covering of badgers' skin, and shall put it upon a pole.

10and they have put it and all its vessels unto a covering of badger skin, and have put <FI>it<Fi> on the bar.

10All these they are to put in a leather cover, and put it on the frame.

11And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of sealskin, and shall put in the staves thereof:

12and they shall take all the vessels of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of sealskin, and shall put them on the frame.

12And they shall take all the instruments of service, wherewith they serve in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers' skin, and shall put them upon a pole.

12and have taken all the vessels of ministry wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and have put <FI>them<Fi> unto a garment of blue, and have covered them with a covering of badger skin, and have put <FI>them<Fi> on the bar,

12All the vessels which are used in the holy place they are to put in a blue cloth, covering them with a leather cover, and put them on the frame.

13And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon:

13And they shall cleanse the altar of the ashes, and spread a purple cloth thereon;

13and have removed the ashes of the altar, and have spread over it a garment of purple;

13And they are to take away the burned waste from the altar, and put a purple cloth on it;

14and they shall put upon it all the vessels thereof, wherewith they minister about it, the firepans, the flesh-hooks, and the shovels, and the basins, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of sealskin, and put in the staves thereof.

14and they shall put upon it all the utensils thereof, wherewith they perform service about it: the firepans, the forks, and the shovels, and the bowls, — all the utensils of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers' skin, and put its staves [to it].

14and have put on it all its vessels wherewith they minister about it, the censers, the hooks, and the shovels, and the bowls, all the vessels of the altar, and have spread on it a covering of badger skin, and have placed its staves:

14Placing on the cloth all its vessels, the fire-baskets, the meat-hooks, the spades, and the basins; all the vessels of the altar; they are to put a leather cover over all these, and put its rods in their places.

15And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the furniture of the sanctuary, as the camp is set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch the sanctuary, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting.

15And when Aaron and his sons have ended covering the sanctuary, and all the utensils of the sanctuary, when the camp setteth forward, then afterwards the sons of Kohath shall come to carry it; but they shall not touch the holy things, lest they die. This is what the sons of Kohath have to carry in the tent of meeting.

15`And Aaron hath finished--his sons also--covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, in the journeying of the camp, and afterwards do the sons of Kohath come in to bear <FI>it<Fi> , and they do not come unto the holy thing, that they have died; these <FI>things are<Fi> the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting.

15And after the holy place and all its vessels have been covered up by Aaron and his sons, when the tents of the people go forward, the sons of Kohath are to come and take it up; but the holy things may not be touched by them for fear of death.

16And the charge of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the continual meal-offering, and the anointing oil, the charge of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is, the sanctuary, and the furniture thereof.

16And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall have the oversight of the oil for the light, and the fragrant incense, and the continual oblation, and the anointing oil, — the oversight of the whole tabernacle, and of all that is therein, over the sanctuary, and over its furniture.

16`And the oversight of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, <FI>is<Fi> the oil of the lamp, and the spice-perfume, and the present of continuity, and the anointing oil, the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that <FI>is<Fi> in it, in the sanctuary, and in its vessels.'

16And Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, is to be responsible for the oil for the light, and the sweet perfumes for burning, and the regular meal offering, and the holy oil; the House and the holy place and everything in it will be in his care.

17And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

18Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites;

18Ye shall not cut off the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites,

18`Ye do not cut off the tribe of the families of the Kohathite from the midst of the Levites;

18Do not let the family of the Kohathites be cut off from among the Levites;

19but thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden;

19but this shall ye do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they draw near unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden;

19but this do to them, and they have lived, and do not die in their drawing nigh the holy of holies: --Aaron and his sons go in, and have set them, each man to his service, and unto his burden,

19But do this to them, so that life and not death may be theirs when they come near the most holy things; let Aaron and his sons go in and give to every one his work and that which he is to take up;

20but they shall not go in to see the sanctuary even for a moment, lest they die.

20but they shall not go in and see for a moment the holy things, lest they die.

20and they go not in to see when the holy thing is swallowed, that they have died.'

20But they themselves are not to go in to see the holy place, even for a minute, for fear of death.

22Let the sons of Gershon be numbered by families, in the order of their fathers' houses;

23from thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to wait upon the service, to do the work in the tent of meeting.

23From thirty years old and upward to fifty years old shalt thou number them; every one that cometh to labour in the work, to perform the service in the tent of meeting.

23from a son of thirty years and upward, till a son of fifty years thou dost number them, every one who is going in to serve the host, to do the service in the tent of meeting.

23All those from thirty to fifty years old who are able to do the work of the Tent of meeting.

24This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, in serving and in bearing burdens:

24This shall be the service of the families of the Gershonites, in serving, and in carrying:

24`This <FI>is<Fi> the service of the families of the Gershonite, to serve--and for burden,

24This is to be the work of the Gershonites, the things they are to do and take up.

25they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tent of meeting, its covering, and the covering of sealskin that is above upon it, and the screen for the door of the tent of meeting,

25they shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tent of meeting, its covering, and the covering of badgers' skin that is above upon it, and the curtain of the entrance to the tent of meeting,

25and they have borne the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tent of meeting, its covering, and the covering of the badger <FI>skin<Fi> which <FI>is<Fi> on it above, and the vail at the opening of the tent of meeting,

25They are to take up the curtains of the House, and the Tent of meeting with its cover and the leather cover over it, and the hangings for the door of the Tent of meeting;

26and the hangings of the court, and the screen for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and whatsoever shall be done with them: therein shall they serve.

26and the hangings of the court, and the curtain of the entrance, of the gate of the court, which surroundeth the tabernacle and the altar, and the cords thereof, and all the instruments of their service; and all that is to be done for these things shall they perform.

26and the hangings of the court, and the vail at the opening of the gate of the court which <FI>is<Fi> by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the vessels of their service, and all that is made for them--and they have served.

26And the hangings for the open space round the House and the altar, and the curtain for its doorway, with the cords and all the things used for them; whatever is necessary for these, they are to do.

27At the commandment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burden, and in all their service; and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burden.

27`By the command of Aaron and his sons is all the service of the sons of the Gershonite in all their burden, and in all their service; and ye have laid a charge on them concerning the charge of all their burden.

27From the mouth of Aaron and his sons the Gershonites will have word about all the things they are to do and take up; you are to give them their orders.

28This is the service of the families of the sons of the Gershonites in the tent of meeting: and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

28This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tent of meeting, and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

28This <FI>is<Fi> the service of the families of the sons of the Gershonite in the tent of meeting; and their charge <FI>is<Fi> under the hand of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.

28This is the work of the family of the Gershonites in the Tent of meeting, and they will be under the direction of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.

29As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them by their families, by their fathers’ houses;

29`The sons of Merari, by their families, by the house of their fathers, thou dost number them;

29The sons of Merari are to be numbered by families, in the order of their fathers' houses;

30from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth upon the service, to do the work of the tent of meeting.

30from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the labour, to perform the service of the tent of meeting.

30from a son of thirty years and upward even unto a son of fifty years thou dost number them, every one who is going in to the host, to do the service of the tent of meeting.

30Every one from thirty to fifty years old who is able to do the work of the Tent of meeting.

31And this is the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tent of meeting: the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof,

31And this shall be the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tent of meeting: the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and bases thereof,

31`And this <FI>is<Fi> the charge of their burden, of all their service in the tent of meeting; the boards of the tabernacle, and its bars, and its pillars, and its sockets,

31And this is their part in the work of the Tent of meeting: the transport of the boards and the rods of the Tent, with the pillars and their bases;

32and the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall appoint the instruments of the charge of their burden.

32and the pillars of the court round about, and their bases, and their pegs, and their cords, all their instruments, according to all their service; and by name ye shall number to them the materials which are their charge to carry.

32and the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, of all their vessels, and of all their service; and by name ye do number the vessels of the charge of their burden.

32And the pillars of the open space outside it, with their bases and their nails and cords and all the instruments used, and everything which has to be done there; all the instruments for which they are responsible are to be numbered by name.

33This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service, in the tent of meeting, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

34And Moses and Aaron and the princes of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites by their families, and by their fathers’ houses,

34And Moses numbereth--Aaron also, and the princes of the company--the sons of the Kohathite, by their families, and by the house of their fathers,

34So Moses and Aaron and the chiefs of the people took in hand the numbering of the sons of the Kohathites, by families, in the order of their fathers' houses;

35from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entered upon the service, for work in the tent of meeting:

35from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entered into the labour, for service in the tent of meeting.

35from a son of thirty years and upward even unto a son of fifty years, every one who is going in to the host, for service in the tent of meeting,

35Numbering all those from thirty to fifty years old who were able to do the work in the Tent of meeting;

36and those that were numbered of them by their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty.

36And those that were numbered of them according to their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty.

36and their numbered ones, by their families, are two thousand seven hundred and fifty.

36And the number of all these was two thousand, seven hundred and fifty.

37These are they that were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all that did serve in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Jehovah by Moses.

37These are they that were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, every one that served in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Jehovah through Moses.

37These <FI>are<Fi> those numbered of the families of the Kohathite, every one who is serving in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, by the command of Jehovah, by the hand of Moses.

37This is the number of those of the Kohathites who did the work in the Tent of meeting, as they were numbered by Moses and Aaron at the order of the Lord.

38And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, their families, and by their fathers’ houses,

41These are they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, all that did serve in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Jehovah.

42And those of the sons of Merari who were numbered by families, in the order of their fathers' houses,

43from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entered upon the service, for work in the tent of meeting,

43from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entered into the labour, for service in the tent of meeting,

43from a son of thirty years and upward even unto a son of fifty years, every one who is going in to the host, for service in the tent of meeting,

44even those that were numbered of them by their families, were three thousand and two hundred.

45These are they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Jehovah by Moses.

47from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entered in to do the work of service, and the work of bearing burdens in the tent of meeting,

47from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that came to serve [in] the work of the service, and [in] the work of carrying, in the tent of meeting,

47from a son of thirty years and upward even unto a son of fifty years, every one who is going in to do the work of the service, even the service of burden in the tent of meeting,

47Those from thirty to fifty years old who were able to do the work of the Tent of meeting and of its transport,

48even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and fourscore.

48even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand five hundred and eighty.

48even their numbered ones are eight thousand and five hundred and eighty;

48Came to eight thousand, five hundred and eighty.

49According to the commandment of Jehovah they were numbered by Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

49At the order of the Lord they were numbered by Moses, every one in relation to his work and to his part in the transport; so they were numbered by Moses at the order of the Lord.
