What Nehemiah 6:14 means

Nehemiah prays, “Remember, O my God,” calling on God to deal with Tobiah and Sanballat according to their deeds, and also naming the prophetess Noadiah and the rest who tried to frighten him. He appeals to divine justice rather than personal revenge. By entrusting the matter to God, he keeps his hands on the work and his heart from bitterness. Naming Noadiah shows the breadth of the opposition—even prophetic figures were involved. Nehemiah’s prayer acknowledges that God sees and will judge, even when public lies seem strong for a time.
