What Nahum 1:14 means
A final decree targets Nineveh directly: its name will no longer be sown—no enduring dynasty or legacy will survive. From the house of its gods, Jehovah will cut off carved and molten images, humiliating the idols that seemed to guarantee the city’s power. “I will make thy grave; for thou art vile” seals the sentence with personal finality—God Himself appoints the burial of the proud city because its moral corruption is offensive to Him. The judgment is total: political extinction, religious desolation, and dishonor in death. The living God will expose false worship and end the oppressor’s story.

Context
After liberating Judah in verse 13, God now executes judgment on Nineveh’s identity and religion. This completes the cycle begun in verse 12: the enemies cut down, Judah freed, Nineveh buried. With the oppressor’s fate secured, the chapter is ready to close with a proclamation of peace to Judah in verse 15, inviting them to respond in worship, confident that the wicked one is utterly cut off.
v.13And now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
v.14This passage
v.15Behold, upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! Keep thy feasts, O Judah, perform thy vows; for the wicked one shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
