Matthew 7

1Judge not, that ye may not be judged;

1Be not judges of others, and you will not be judged.

1`Judge not, that ye may not be judged,

2for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you.

2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you.

2For as you have been judging, so you will be judged, and with your measure will it be measured to you.

2for in what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged, and in what measure ye measure, it shall be measured to you.

3But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye?

3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

3And why do you take note of the grain of dust in your brother's eye, but take no note of the bit of wood which is in your eye?

3`And why dost thou behold the mote that <FI>is<Fi> in thy brother's eye, and the beam that <FI>is<Fi> in thine own eye dost not consider?

4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Allow [me], I will cast out the mote from thine eye; and behold, the beam is in thine eye?

4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me cast out the mote out of thine eye; and lo, the beam is in thine own eye?

4Or how will you say to your brother, Let me take out the grain of dust from your eye, when you yourself have a bit of wood in your eye?

4or, how wilt thou say to thy brother, Suffer I may cast out the mote from thine eye, and lo, the beam <FI>is<Fi> in thine own eye?

5Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the mote out of the eye of thy brother.

5Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

5You false one, first take out the bit of wood from your eye, then will you see clearly to take out the grain of dust from your brother's eye.

6Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them with their feet, and turning round rend you.

6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest haply they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you.

6Do not give that which is holy to the dogs, or put your jewels before pigs, for fear that they will be crushed under foot by the pigs whose attack will then be made against you.

6`Ye may not give that which is <FI>holy<Fi> to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, that they may not trample them among their feet, and having turned--may rend you.

7Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.

7Make a request, and it will be answered; what you are searching for you will get; give the sign, and the door will be open to you:

9Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask of him a loaf of bread, will give him a stone;

9Or which of you, if his son makes a request for bread, will give him a stone?

9`Or what man is of you, of whom, if his son may ask a loaf--a stone will he present to him?

10and if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent?

10or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent?

10Or if he makes a request for a fish, will give him a snake?

10and if a fish he may ask--a serpent will he present to him?

11If therefore ye, being wicked, know [how] to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to them that ask of him?

11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

11If you, then, being evil, are able to give good things to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who make requests to him?

11if, therefore, ye being evil, have known good gifts to give to your children, how much more shall your Father who <FI>is<Fi> in the heavens give good things to those asking him?

12Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do ye also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

12All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets.

12All those things, then, which you would have men do to you, even so do you to them: because this is the law and the prophets.

13Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it.

13Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby.

13Go in by the narrow door; for wide is the door and open is the way which goes to destruction, and great numbers go in by it.

13`Go ye in through the strait gate, because wide <FI>is<Fi> the gate, and broad the way that is leading to the destruction, and many are those going in through it;

14For narrow the gate and straitened the way that leads to life, and they are few who find it.

14For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it.

14For narrow is the door and hard the road to life, and only a small number make discovery of it.

14how strait <FI>is<Fi> the gate, and compressed the way that is leading to the life, and few are those finding it!

15But beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves.

15Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.

15Be on the watch for false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inside they are cruel wolves.

15`But, take heed of the false prophets, who come unto you in sheep's clothing, and inwardly are ravening wolves.

16By their fruits ye shall know them. Do [men] gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs?

16By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

16By their fruits you will get knowledge of them. Do men get grapes from thorns or figs from thistles?

16From their fruits ye shall know them; do <FI>men<Fi> gather from thorns grapes? or from thistles figs?

17So every good tree produces good fruits, but the worthless tree produces bad fruits.

17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

17Even so, every good tree gives good fruit; but the bad tree gives evil fruit.

17so every good tree doth yield good fruits, but the bad tree doth yield evil fruits.

18A good tree cannot produce bad fruits, nor a worthless tree produce good fruits.

18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

18It is not possible for a good tree to give bad fruit, and a bad tree will not give good fruit.

18A good tree is not able to yield evil fruits, nor a bad tree to yield good fruits.

19Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

19Every tree which does not give good fruit is cut down and put in the fire.

19Every tree not yielding good fruit is cut down and is cast to fire:

20By their fruits then surely ye shall know them.

20Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

20So by their fruits you will get knowledge of them.

21Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens.

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.

21Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will go into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the pleasure of my Father in heaven.

21`Not every one who is saying to me Lord, lord, shall come into the reign of the heavens; but he who is doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens.

22Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through thy name, and through thy name cast out demons, and through thy name done many works of power?

22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?

22A great number will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, were we not prophets in your name, and did we not by your name send out evil spirits, and by your name do works of power?

22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, lord, have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name cast out demons? and in thy name done many mighty things?

23and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness.

23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

23And then will I say to them, I never had knowledge of you: go from me, you workers of evil.

23and then I will acknowledge to them, that--I never knew you, depart from me ye who are working lawlessness.

24Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;

24Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock:

24Everyone, then, to whom my words come and who does them, will be like a wise man who made his house on a rock;

24`Therefore, every one who doth hear of me these words, and doth do them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house upon the rock;

25and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock.

25and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon the rock.

25And the rain came down and there was a rush of waters and the winds were driving against that house, but it was not moved; because it was based on the rock.

25and the rain did descend, and the streams came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell not, for it had been founded on the rock.

26And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand;

26And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand:

26And everyone to whom my words come and who does them not, will be like a foolish man who made his house on sand;

26`And every one who is hearing of me these words, and is not doing them, shall be likened to a foolish man who built his house upon the sand;

27and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great.

27and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof.

27And the rain came down and there was a rush of waters and the winds were driving against that house; and it came down and great was its fall.

27and the rain did descend, and the streams came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell, and its fall was great.'

28And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine,

28And it came about, when Jesus had come to the end of these words, that the people were surprised at his teaching,

29for he taught them as having authority, and not as their scribes.
