Matthew 24

1And Jesus went out from the temple, and was going on his way; and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.

1And Jesus went out of the Temple, and on the way his disciples came to him, pointing out the buildings of the Temple.

1And Jesus went forth and went away from the temple, and his disciples came to [him] to point out to him the buildings of the temple.

2But he answered and said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

2But he, answering, said to them, See you not all these things? truly I say to you that here there will not be one stone resting on another, which will not be pulled down.

2And he answering said to them, Do ye not see all these things? Verily I say to you, Not a stone shall be left here upon a stone which shall not be thrown down.

3And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

3And while he was seated on the Mountain of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Make clear to us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?

3And as he was sitting upon the mount of Olives the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be, and what is the sign of thy coming and [the] completion of the age?

4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man lead you astray.

4And Jesus said to them in answer, Take care that you are not tricked.

4And Jesus answering said to them, See that no one mislead you.

5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and shall lead many astray.

5For people will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and a number will be turned from the true way through them.

5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and they shall mislead many.

6And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for these things must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet.

6And news will come to you of wars and talk of wars: do not be troubled, for these things have to be; but it is still not the end.

6But ye will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not disturbed; for all [these things] must take place, but it is not yet the end.

7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places.

7For nation will be moved against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and men will be without food, and the earth will be shaking in different places;

7For nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.

8But all these things are the beginning of travail.

9Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name’s sake.

9Then they will be cruel to you, and will put you to death: and you will be hated by all nations because of my name.

10And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.

10And numbers of people will be turned from the right way, and will give one another up and have hate for one another.

11And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray.

11And a number of false prophets will come, causing error.

12And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold.

12And because wrongdoing will be increased, the love of most people will become cold.

12and because lawlessness shall prevail, the love of the most shall grow cold;

13But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

13But he who goes through to the end will get salvation.

13but he that has endured to the end, he shall be saved.

14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.

14And this good news of the kingdom will be given through all the world for a witness to all nations; and then the end will come.

14And these glad tidings of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole habitable earth, for a witness to all the nations, and then shall come the end.

15When therefore ye see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let him that readeth understand),

15When, then, you see in the holy place the unclean thing which makes destruction, of which word was given by Daniel the prophet (let this be clear to the reader),

16then let them that are in Judæa flee unto the mountains:

17let him that is on the housetop not go down to take out the things that are in his house:

17Let not him who is on the house-top go down to take anything out of his house:

18and let him that is in the field not return back to take his cloak.

18and let not him that is in the field turn back to take his garment.

19But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days!

19But it will be hard for women who are with child and for those with babies at the breast in those days.

20And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a sabbath:

20And say a prayer that your flight may not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath.

21for then shall be great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be.

21Because in those days there will be great sorrow, such as there has not been from the start of the world till now, or ever will be.

22And except those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

22And if those days had not been made short there would have been no salvation for any, but because of the saints those days will be made short.

22and if those days had not been cut short, no flesh had been saved; but on account of the elect those days shall be cut short.

23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Here; believe it not.

23Then if any man says to you, See, here is the Christ, or, Here; do not put faith in him;

23Then if any one say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or here, believe [it] not.

24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

24For there will come up false Christs, and false prophets, who will do great signs and wonders; so that if possible even the saints might be tricked.

25Behold, I have told you beforehand.

27For as the lightning goes forth from the east and shines to the west, so shall be the coming of the Son of man.

28Wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

28Wherever the dead body is, there will the eagles come together.

28[For] wherever the carcase is, there will be gathered the eagles.

29But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

29But straight away, after the trouble of those days, the sun will be made dark and the moon will not give her light and the stars will come down from heaven and the powers of heaven will be moved:

29But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.

30and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

30And then the sign of the Son of man will be seen in heaven: and then all the nations of the earth will have sorrow, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the land lament, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

31And he will send out his angels with a great sound of a horn, and they will get his saints together from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32Now from the fig tree learn her parable: when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh;

32Now take an example from the fig-tree: when her branch has become soft and puts out its leaves, you are certain that the summer is near;

32But learn the parable from the fig-tree: When already its branch becomes tender and produces leaves, ye know that the summer is near.

33even so ye also, when ye see all these things, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors.

33Even so, when you see all these things, you may be certain that he is near, even at the doors.

33Thus also ye, when ye see all these things, know that it is near, at the doors.

34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished.

34Truly I say to you, This generation will not come to an end till all these things are complete.

35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36But of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only.

37And as were the days of Noah, so shall be the coming of the Son of man.

38For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

39and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall be the coming of the Son of man.

40Then shall two men be in the field; one is taken, and one is left:

43But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through.

44Therefore be ye also ready; for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath set over his household, to give them their food in due season?

45Who is the true and wise servant, whom his lord has put over those in his house, to give them their food at the right time?

45Who then is the faithful and prudent bondman whom his lord has set over his household, to give them food in season?

46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

46Blessed is that bondman whom his lord on coming shall find doing thus.

47Verily I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath.

47Truly, I say to you, he will put him over all he has.

48But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord tarrieth;

48But if that evil servant says in his heart, My lord is a long time in coming;

48But if that evil bondman should say in his heart, My lord delays to come,

49and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall eat and drink with the drunken;

49And is cruel to the other servants, taking his pleasure with those who are overcome with wine;

49and begin to beat his fellow-bondmen, and eat and drink with the drunken;

50the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not,

50The lord of that servant will come in a day when he is not looking for him, and in an hour of which he has no knowledge,

50the lord of that bondman shall come in a day when he does not expect it, and in an hour he knows not of,

51and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

51And will have him cut in two, and will give him a part in the fate of the false ones: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
