1Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah; who swear by the name of Jehovah, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness

1Listen to this, family of Jacob, you who are called by the name Israel and come from the line of Judah. You take oaths in the name of the LORD and claim to worship the God of Israel, but you don't do it with honesty or sincerity.

2(for they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; Jehovah of hosts is his name):

2You call yourselves citizens of the holy city and say you rely on the God of Israel, whose name is the LORD of Armies.

3I have declared the former things from of old; yea, they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them: suddenly I did them, and they came to pass.

3Long ago I told you what would happen. I spoke the words myself and made them known. Then suddenly I acted, and they all came true.

4Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

4I did this because I knew how stubborn you are. Your neck muscles are like iron, and your forehead is as hard as bronze.

5therefore I have declared it to thee from of old; before it came to pass I showed it thee; lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

5That is why I told you these things long ago. Before they happened, I announced them to you. I did this so you couldn't say, 'My idol did these things,' or 'Our carved and metal statues ordered this to happen.'

6Thou hast heard it; behold all this; and ye, will ye not declare it? I have showed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, which thou hast not known.

6You have heard the prophecies; now look at how they were fulfilled. Won't you admit it? From now on I will tell you about new things, secret things you haven't known before.

7They are created now, and not from of old; and before this day thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

7These things are happening now, not long ago. You haven't heard of them until today. So you cannot say, 'Oh, I already knew that.'

8Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from of old thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou didst deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

8You haven't heard or understood; your ears have been closed for a long time. I knew how treacherous you were, and that you have been called a rebel from the time you were born.

9For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

9However, for the sake of my own reputation, I will hold back my anger. For my own praise, I will be patient with you so that I do not completely destroy you.

10Behold, I have refined thee, but not as silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

10Look, I have refined you, but not like silver is refined. I have tested you in the furnace of suffering.

11For mine own sake, for mine own sake, will I do it; for how should my name be profaned? and my glory will I not give to another.

11For my own sake, yes, for my own sake, I will do this. Why should I allow my name to be dishonored? I will not give my glory to anyone else.

12Hearken unto me, O Jacob, and Israel my called: I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

12Listen to me, Jacob, and Israel, whom I have called: I am the One. I am the First, and I am also the Last.

13Yea, my hand hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spread out the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

13My hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens. When I call to them, they all stand up together.展现出来。

14Assemble yourselves, all ye, and hear; who among them hath declared these things? He whom Jehovah loveth shall perform his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

14All of you, gather together and listen! Which of the idols told you any of this? The man the LORD loves will carry out God’s plan against Babylon; he will be the weapon against the Chaldeans.

15I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him; I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

15I, even I, have spoken. Yes, I have called him. I have brought him here, and he will succeed in his mission.

16Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; from the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord Jehovah hath sent me, and his Spirit.

16Come closer to me and listen to this: From the beginning, I have not spoken in secret. From the time these events started, I was there. And now the Sovereign LORD has sent me, filling me with his Spirit.

17Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am Jehovah thy God, who teacheth thee to profit, who leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

17This is what the LORD says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.

18Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

18If only you had listened to my commands! Then your peace would have flowed like a gentle river, and your success would have been as constant as the waves of the sea.

19thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the grains thereof: his name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before me.

19Your descendants would have been as many as the grains of sand, and your children would be like the sand on the shore. Your name would never be cut off or forgotten by me.

20Go ye forth from Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans; with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth: say ye, Jehovah hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

20Leave Babylon! Run from the Chaldeans! Shout it out with joy and tell everyone! Spread the news to the ends of the earth: 'The LORD has rescued his servant Jacob!'

21And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts; he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

21They were not thirsty when he led them through the dry deserts. He made water flow out of a rock for them; he split the rock open and the water gushed out.

22There is no peace, saith Jehovah, to the wicked.

22But there is no peace for the wicked, says the LORD.
