What Hebrews 10:19 means

Believers now have boldness to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus. Confidence replaces fear because access rests on his atoning death, not our merit. The imagery recalls the high priest’s restricted entry under the old covenant, now opened for all who trust Christ. The “holy place” signifies God’s presence; the way is secure because the blood that cleanses also grants entrance. This verse shifts from doctrine to privilege, inviting Christians to approach God freely and gladly, knowing the price of admission has been paid once for all by their great high priest and mediator.

Context

After establishing that no further sacrifice is needed (v. 18), verse 19 begins the exhortational section. It draws the practical conclusion: because of Jesus’ blood, believers have bold access to God’s presence. Verses 20–21 will describe the character of this access—a new and living way through the veil, Jesus’ flesh—and the reality that we have a great priest over God’s house. Verses 22–25 will then present three responses: draw near, hold fast, and consider one another to stir up love and good works, especially as the day approaches.

v.18Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

v.19This passage

v.20by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
