3All these joined together in the vale of Siddim (the same is the Salt Sea).
3All these have been joined together unto the valley of Siddim, which <FI>is<Fi> the Salt Sea;
3All these came together in the valley of Siddim (which is the Salt Sea).
4Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
4twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and the thirteenth year they rebelled.
4For twelve years they were under the rule of Chedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they put off his control.
5And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,
5And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings who <FI>are<Fi> with him, and they smite the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
5And in the fourteenth year, Chedorlaomer and the kings who were on his side, overcame the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,
6and the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-paran, which is by the wilderness.
6and the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-Paran, which <FI>is<Fi> by the wilderness;
6And the Horites in their mountain Seir, driving them as far as El-paran, which is near the waste land.
7And they returned, and came to En-mishpat (the same is Kadesh), and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazazon-tamar.
7and they turn back and come in unto En-Mishpat, which <FI>is<Fi> Kadesh, and smite the whole field of the Amalekite, and also the Amorite who is dwelling in Hazezon-Tamar.
7Then they came back to En-mishpat (which is Kadesh), making waste all the country of the Amalekites and of the Amorites living in Hazazon-tamar.
8And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar); and they set the battle in array against them in the vale of Siddim;
8And the king of Sodom goeth out, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which <FI>is<Fi> Zoar; and they set the battle in array with them in the valley of Siddim,
8And the king of Sodom with the king of Gomorrah and the king of Admah and the king of Zeboiim and the king of Bela (that is Zoar), went out, and put their forces in position in the valley of Siddim,
9against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings against the five.
9with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goyim, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with the five.
9Against Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, and Tidal, king of Goiim, and Amraphel, king of Shinar, and Arioch, king of Ellasar: four kings against the five.
10Now the vale of Siddim was full of slime pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell there, and they that remained fled to the mountain.
10And the valley of Siddim <FI>is<Fi> full of bitumen-pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah flee, and fall there, and those left have fled to the mountain.
10Now the valley of Siddim was full of holes of sticky earth; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah were put to flight and came to their end there, but the rest got away to the mountain.
11And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.
11And they take the whole substance of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the whole of their food, and go away;
11And the four kings took all the goods and food from Sodom and Gomorrah and went on their way.
12And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
12and they take Lot, Abram's brother's son (seeing he is dwelling in Sodom), and his substance, and go away.
12And in addition they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who was living in Sodom, and all his goods.
13And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew: now he dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner; and these were confederate with Abram.
13And one who is escaping cometh and declareth to Abram the Hebrew, and he is dwelling among the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner, and they <FI>are<Fi> Abram's allies.
13And one who had got away from the fight came and gave word of it to Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the holy tree of Mamre, the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol and Aner, who were friends of Abram.
14And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued as far as Dan.
14And Abram heareth that his brother hath been taken captive, and he draweth out his trained domestics, three hundred and eighteen, and pursueth unto Dan.
14And Abram, hearing that his brother's son had been made a prisoner, took a band of his trained men, three hundred and eighteen of them, sons of his house, and went after them as far as Dan.
15And he divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
15And he divideth himself against them by night, he and his servants, and smiteth them, and pursueth them unto Hobah, which <FI>is<Fi> at the left of Damascus;
15And separating his forces by night, he overcame them, putting them to flight and going after them as far as Hobah, which is on the north side of Damascus.
16And he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
16and he bringeth back the whole of the substance, and also Lot his brother and his substance hath he brought back, and also the women and the people.
16And he got back all the goods, and Lot, his brother's son, with his goods and the women and the people.
17And the king of Sodom went out to meet him, after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, at the vale of Shaveh (the same is the King’s Vale).
17And the king of Sodom goeth out to meet him (after his turning back from the smiting of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings who <FI>are<Fi> with him), unto the valley of Shaveh, which <FI>is<Fi> the king's valley.
17And when he was coming back after putting to flight Chedorlaomer and the other kings, he had a meeting with the king of Sodom in the valley of Shaveh, that is, the King's Valley.
18And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High.
18And Melchizedek king of Salem hath brought out bread and wine, and he <FI>is<Fi> priest of God Most High;
18And Melchizedek, king of Salem, the priest of the Most High God, took bread and wine,
19And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth:
19and he blesseth him, and saith, `Blessed <FI>is<Fi> Abram to God Most High, possessing heaven and earth;
19And blessing him, said, May the blessing of the Most High God, maker of heaven and earth, be on Abram:
20and blessed be God Most High, who hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him a tenth of all.
20and blessed <FI>is<Fi> God Most High, who hath delivered thine adversaries into thy hand;' and he giveth to him a tenth of all.
20And let the Most High God be praised, who has given into your hands those who were against you. Then Abram gave him a tenth of all the goods he had taken.
21And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
21And the king of Sodom saith unto Abram, `Give to me the persons, and the substance take to thyself,'
21And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the prisoners and take the goods for yourself.
22And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand unto Jehovah, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth,
22and Abram saith unto the king of Sodom, `I have lifted up my hand unto Jehovah, God Most High, possessing heaven and earth--
22But Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have taken an oath to the Lord, the Most High God, maker of heaven and earth,
23that I will not take a thread nor a shoe-latchet nor aught that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
23from a thread even unto a shoe-latchet I take not of anything which thou hast, that thou say not, I--I have made Abram rich;
23That I will not take so much as a thread or the cord of a shoe of yours; so that you may not say, I have given wealth to Abram:
24save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men that went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
24save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who have gone with me--Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre--they take their portion.'
24Give me nothing but the food which the fighting-men who went with me have had; but let Aner and Eshcol and Mamre have their part of the goods.
