Genesis 14

1And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim,

2that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar).

8And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar); and they set the battle in array against them in the vale of Siddim;

10Now the vale of Siddim was full of slime pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell there, and they that remained fled to the mountain.

10And the valley of Siddim <FI>is<Fi> full of bitumen-pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah flee, and fall there, and those left have fled to the mountain.

10Now the valley of Siddim was full of holes of sticky earth; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah were put to flight and came to their end there, but the rest got away to the mountain.

11And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.

12And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

13And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew: now he dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner; and these were confederate with Abram.

13And one who is escaping cometh and declareth to Abram the Hebrew, and he is dwelling among the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner, and they <FI>are<Fi> Abram's allies.

13And one who had got away from the fight came and gave word of it to Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the holy tree of Mamre, the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol and Aner, who were friends of Abram.

14And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued as far as Dan.

15And he divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

17And the king of Sodom went out to meet him, after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, at the vale of Shaveh (the same is the King’s Vale).

17And the king of Sodom goeth out to meet him (after his turning back from the smiting of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings who <FI>are<Fi> with him), unto the valley of Shaveh, which <FI>is<Fi> the king's valley.

17And when he was coming back after putting to flight Chedorlaomer and the other kings, he had a meeting with the king of Sodom in the valley of Shaveh, that is, the King's Valley.

18And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High.

18And Melchizedek king of Salem hath brought out bread and wine, and he <FI>is<Fi> priest of God Most High;

19And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth:

19and he blesseth him, and saith, `Blessed <FI>is<Fi> Abram to God Most High, possessing heaven and earth;

19And blessing him, said, May the blessing of the Most High God, maker of heaven and earth, be on Abram:

20and blessed be God Most High, who hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him a tenth of all.

20and blessed <FI>is<Fi> God Most High, who hath delivered thine adversaries into thy hand;' and he giveth to him a tenth of all.

20And let the Most High God be praised, who has given into your hands those who were against you. Then Abram gave him a tenth of all the goods he had taken.

21And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

22And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand unto Jehovah, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth,

22But Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have taken an oath to the Lord, the Most High God, maker of heaven and earth,

23that I will not take a thread nor a shoe-latchet nor aught that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

23from a thread even unto a shoe-latchet I take not of anything which thou hast, that thou say not, I--I have made Abram rich;

23That I will not take so much as a thread or the cord of a shoe of yours; so that you may not say, I have given wealth to Abram:

24save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men that went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

24Give me nothing but the food which the fighting-men who went with me have had; but let Aner and Eshcol and Mamre have their part of the goods.
