1And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the South.

1And Abram went up out of Egypt with his wife and all he had, and Lot with him, and they came in to the South.

1And Abram goeth up from Egypt (he and his wife, and all that he hath, and Lot with him) towards the south;

1And Abram went up out of Egypt, he and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him into the south.

2And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

2Now Abram had great wealth of cattle and silver and gold.

2and Abram <FI>is<Fi> exceedingly wealthy in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

2And he was very rich in possession of gold and silver.

3And he went on his journeys from the South even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Ai,

3And travelling on from the South, he came to Beth-el, to the place where his tent had been before, between Beth-el and Ai;

3And he goeth on his journeyings from the south, even unto Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the commencement, between Bethel and Hai--

3And he returned by the way, that he came, from the south to Bethel, to the place where before he had pitched his tent between Bethel and Hai,

4unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of Jehovah.

4To the place where he had made his first altar, and there Abram gave worship to the name of the Lord.

4unto the place of the altar which he made there at the first, and there doth Abram preach in the name of Jehovah.

4In the place of the altar which he had made before, and there he called upon the name of the Lord.

5And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.

5And Lot, who went with him, had flocks and herds and tents;

5And also to Lot, who is going with Abram, there hath been sheep and oxen and tents;

5But Lot also, who was with Abram, had flocks of sheep, and herds of beasts, and tents.

6And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

6So that the land was not wide enough for the two of them: their property was so great that there was not room for them together.

6and the land hath not suffered them to dwell together, for their substance hath been much, and they have not been able to dwell together;

6Neither was the land able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, and they could not dwell together.

7And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdsmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in the land.

7And there was an argument between the keepers of Abram's cattle and the keepers of Lot's cattle: at that time the Canaanites and Perizzites were still living in the land.

7and there is a strife between those feeding Abram's cattle and those feeding Lot's cattle; and the Canaanite and the Perizzite <FI>are<Fi> then dwelling in the land.

7Whereupon also there arose a strife between the herdsmen of Abram and of Lot. And at that time the Chanaanite and the Pherezite dwelled in that country.

8And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen; for we are brethren.

8Then Abram said to Lot, Let there be no argument between me and you, and between my herdmen and your herdmen, for we are brothers.

8And Abram saith unto Lot, `Let there not, I pray thee, be strife between me and thee, and between my shepherds and thy shepherds, for we <FI>are<Fi> men--brethren.

8Abram therefore said to Lot: Let there be no quarrel, I beseech thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen: for we are brethren.

9Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou take the right hand, then I will go to the left.

9Is not all the land before you? then let us go our separate ways: if you go to the left, I will go to the right; or if you take the right, I will go to the left.

9Is not all the land before thee? be parted, I pray thee, from me; if to the left, then I to the right; and if to the right, then I to the left.'

9Behold the whole land is before thee: depart from me, I pray thee: if thou wilt go to the left hand, I will take the right: if thou choose the right hand, I will pass to the left.

10And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the Plain of the Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before Jehovah destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Jehovah, like the land of Egypt, as thou goest unto Zoar.

10And Lot, lifting up his eyes and looking an the valley of Jordan, saw that it was well watered everywhere, before the Lord had sent destruction on Sodom and Gomorrah; it was like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, on the way to Zoar.

10And Lot lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the whole circuit of the Jordan that it <FI>is<Fi> all a watered country (before Jehovah's destroying Sodom and Gomorrah, as Jehovah's garden, as the land of Egypt,) in thy coming toward Zoar,

10And Lot lifting up his eyes, saw all the country about the Jordan, which was watered throughout, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha, as the paradise of the Lord, and like Egypt as one comes to Segor.

11So Lot chose him all the Plain of the Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

11So Lot took for himself all the valley of Jordan, and went to the east, and they were parted from one another.

11and Lot chooseth for himself the whole circuit of the Jordan; and Lot journeyeth from the east, and they are parted--a man from his companion;

11And Lot chose to himself the country about the Jordan, and he departed from the east: and they were separated one brother from the other.

12Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the Plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

12Abram went on living in the land of Canaan, and Lot went to the lowland towns, moving his tent as far as Sodom.

12Abram hath dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot hath dwelt in the cities of the circuit, and tenteth unto Sodom;

12Abram dwelt in the land of Chanaan: and Lot abode in the towns, that were about the Jordan, and dwelt in Sodom.

13Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners against Jehovah exceedingly.

13Now the men of Sodom were evil, and great sinners before the Lord.

13and the men of Sodom <FI>are<Fi> evil, and sinners before Jehovah exceedingly.

13And the men of Sodom were very wicked, and sinners before the face of the Lord beyond measure.

14And Jehovah said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward and southward and eastward and westward:

14And the Lord had said to Abram, after Lot was parted from him, From this place where you are take a look to the north and to the south, to the east and to the west:

14And Jehovah said unto Abram, after Lot's being parted from him, `Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and look from the place where thou <FI>art<Fi> , northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward;

14And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him: Lift up thy eyes, and look from the place wherein thou now art, to the north and to the south, to the east and to the west.

15for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

15For all the land which you see I will give to you and to your seed for ever.

15for the whole of the land which thou are seeing, to thee I give it, and to thy seed--to the age.

15All the land which thou seest, I will give to thee, and to thy seed for ever.

16And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then may thy seed also be numbered.

16And I will make your children like the dust of the earth, so that if the dust of the earth may be numbered, then will your children be numbered.

16And I have set thy seed as dust of the earth, so that, if one is able to number the dust of the earth, even thy seed is numbered;

16And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: if any man be able to number the dust of the earth, he shall be able to number thy seed also.

17Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for unto thee will I give it.

17Come, go through all the land from one end to the other for I will give it to you.

17rise, go up and down through the land, to its length, and to its breadth, for to thee I give it.'

17Arise and walk through the land in the length, and the breadth thereof: for I will give it to thee.

18And Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built there an altar unto Jehovah.

18And Abram, moving his tent, came and made his living-place by the holy tree of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and made an altar there to the Lord.

18And Abram tenteth, and cometh, and dwelleth among the oaks of Mamre, which <FI>are<Fi> in Hebron, and buildeth there an altar to Jehovah.

18So Abram removing his tent, came, and dwelt by the vale of Mambre, which is in Hebron: and he built there an altar to the Lord.
