Galatians 1

1Paul, an apostle--not from men, nor through man, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who did raise him out of the dead--

1Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

2and all the brethren with me, to the assemblies of Galatia:

2And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

3Grace to you, and peace from God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ,

3Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

4who did give himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of the present evil age, according to the will of God even our Father,

4Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

5to whom <FI>is<Fi> the glory to the ages of the ages. Amen.

5To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

6I wonder that ye are so quickly removed from Him who did call you in the grace of Christ to another good news;

6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7that is not another, except there be certain who are troubling you, and wishing to pervert the good news of the Christ;

7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8but even if we or a messenger out of heaven may proclaim good news to you different from what we did proclaim to you--anathema let him be!

8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9as we have said before, and now say again, If any one to you may proclaim good news different from what ye did receive--anathema let him be!

9As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10for now men do I persuade, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if yet men I did please--Christ's servant I should not be.

10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

11And I make known to you, brethren, the good news that were proclaimed by me, that it is not according to man,

11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

12for neither did I from man receive it, nor was I taught <FI>it<Fi> , but through a revelation of Jesus Christ,

12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

13for ye did hear of my behaviour once in Judaism, that exceedingly I was persecuting the assembly of God, and wasting it,

13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

14and I was advancing in Judaism above many equals in age in mine own race, being more abundantly zealous of my fathers' deliverances,

14And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

15and when God was well pleased--having separated me from the womb of my mother, and having called <FI>me<Fi> through His grace--

15But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,

16to reveal His Son in me, that I might proclaim him good news among the nations, immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood,

16To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

17nor did I go up to Jerusalem unto those who were apostles before me, but I went away to Arabia, and again returned to Damascus,

17Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

18then, after three years I went up to Jerusalem to enquire about Peter, and remained with him fifteen days,

18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

19and other of the apostles I did not see, except James, the brother of the Lord.

19But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother.

20And the things that I write to you, lo, before God--I lie not;

21then I came to the regions of Syria and of Cilicia,

21Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

22and was unknown by face to the assemblies of Judea, that <FI>are<Fi> in Christ,

22And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judea which were in Christ:

23and only they were hearing, that `he who is persecuting us then, doth now proclaim good news--the faith that then he was wasting;'

23But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

24and they were glorifying God in me.
