1And he brought me to the gate that looked towards the east.

1And he took me to the doorway looking to the east:

1And he causeth me to go to the gate, the gate that is looking eastward.

2And behold the glory of the God of Israel came in by the way of the east: and his voice was like the noise of many waters, and the earth shone with his majesty.

2And there was the glory of the God of Israel coming from the way of the east: and his voice was like the sound of great waters, and the earth was shining with his glory.

2And lo, the honour of the God of Israel hath come from the way of the east, and His voice <FI>is<Fi> as the noise of many waters, and the earth hath shone from His honour.

3And I saw the vision according to the appearance which I had seen when he came to destroy the city: and the appearance was according to the vision which I had seen by the river Chobar: and I fell upon my face.

3And the vision which I saw was like the vision I had seen when he came for the destruction of the town: and like the vision which I saw by the river Chebar; and I went down on my face.

3And according to the appearance <FI>is<Fi> the appearance that I saw, as the appearance that I saw in my coming in to destroy the city, and the appearances <FI>are<Fi> as the appearance that I saw at the river Chebar, and I fall on my face.

4And the majesty of the Lord went into the temple by the way of the gate that looked to the east.

4And the glory of the Lord came into the house by the way of the doorway looking to the east.

4And the honour of Jehovah hath come in unto the house, the way of the gate whose face <FI>is<Fi> eastward.

5And the spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court: and behold the house was filled with the glory of the Lord.

5And the spirit, lifting me up, took me into the inner square; and I saw that the house was full of the glory of the Lord.

5And take me up doth the Spirit, and bringeth me in unto the inner court, and lo, the honour of Jehovah hath filled the house.

6And I heard one speaking to me out of the house, and the man that stood by me,

6And the voice of one talking to me came to my ears from inside the house; and the man was by my side.

6And I hear one speaking unto me from the house, and a man hath been standing near me,

7Said to me: Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever: and the house of Israel shall no more profane my holy name, they and their kings by their fornications, and by the carcasses of their kings, and by the high places.

7And he said to me, Son of man, this is the place where the seat of my power is and the resting-place of my feet, where I will be among the children of Israel for ever: and no longer will the people of Israel make my holy name unclean, they or their kings, by their loose ways and by the dead bodies of their kings;

7and He saith unto me: `Son of man, the place of My throne, And the place of the soles of My feet, Where I dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel to the age, Defile no more do the house of Israel My holy name, They, and their kings, by their whoredom, And by the carcases of their kings--their high places.

8They who have set their threshold by my threshold, and their posts by my posts: and there was but a wall between me, and them: and they profaned my holy name by the abominations which they committed: for which reason I consumed them in my wrath.

8By putting their doorstep by my doorstep, and the pillar of their door by the pillar of my door, with only a wall between me and them; and they have made my holy name unclean by the disgusting things which they have done: so in my wrath I sent destruction on them.

8In their putting their threshold with My threshold, And their door-post near My door-post, And the wall between Me and them, And they have defiled My holy name, By their abominations that they have done, And I consume them in Mine anger.

9Now therefore let them put away their fornications, and the carcasses of their kings far from me: and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.

9Now let them put their loose ways and the dead bodies of their kings far from me, and I will be among them for ever.

9Now do they put far off their whoredom, And the carcases of their kings--from Me, And I have dwelt in their midst to the age.

10But thou, son of man, shew to the house of Israel the temple, and let them be ashamed of their iniquities, and let them measure the building:

10You, son of man, give the children of Israel an account of this house, so that they may be shamed because of their evil-doing: and let them see the vision of it and its image.

10Thou, son of man, Shew the house of Israel the house, And they are ashamed of their iniquities, And they have measured the measurement.

11And be ashamed of all that they have done. Shew them the form of the house, and of the fashion thereof, the goings out and the comings in, and the whole plan thereof, and all its ordinances, and all its order, and all its laws, and thou shalt write it in their sight: that they may keep the whole form thereof, and its ordinances, and do them.

11And they will be shamed by what they have done; so give them the knowledge of the form of the house and its structure, and the ways out of it and into it, and all its laws and its rules, writing it down for them: so that they may keep all its laws and do them.

11And since they have been ashamed of all that they have done, The form of the house, and its measurement, And its outlets, and its inlets, and all its forms, And all its statutes, even all its forms, And all its laws cause them to know, And write <FI>it<Fi> before their eyes, And they observe all its forms, And all its statutes, and have done them.

12This is the law of the house upon the top of the mountain: All its border round about; most holy: this then is the law of the house.

12This is the law of the house: On the top of the mountain all the space round it on every side will be most holy. See, this is the law of the house.

12This <FI>is<Fi> a law of the house: on the top of the mountain, all its border all round about <FI>is<Fi> most holy; lo, this <FI>is<Fi> a law of the house.

13And these are the measures of the altar by the truest cubit, which is a cubit and a handbreadth: the bottom thereof was a cubit, and the breadth a cubit: and the border thereof unto its edge, and round about, one handbreadth: and this was the trench of the altar.

13And these are the measures of the altar in cubits: (the cubit being a cubit and a hand's measure;) its hollow base is a cubit high and a cubit wide, and it has an overhanging edge as wide as a hand-stretch all round it:

13`And these <FI>are<Fi> measures of the altar by cubits: The cubit <FI>is<Fi> a cubit and a handbreadth, and the centre <FI>is<Fi> a cubit, and a cubit the breadth; and its border on its edge round about <FI>is<Fi> one span, and this <FI>is<Fi> the upper part of the altar.

14And from the bottom of the ground to the lowest brim two cubits, and the breadth of one cubit: and from the lesser brim to the greater brim four cubits, and the breadth of one cubit.

14And from the base on the earth level to the lower shelf, the altar is two cubits high and a cubit wide; and from the smaller shelf to the greater shelf it is four cubits high and a cubit wide.

14And from the centre of the ground unto the lower border <FI>is<Fi> two cubits, and the breadth one cubit, and from the lesser border unto the greater border four cubits, and the breadth a cubit.

15And the Ariel itself was four cubits: and from the Ariel upward were four horns.

15And the fireplace is four cubits high: and coming up from the fireplace are the horns, a cubit high.

15`And the altar <FI>is<Fi> four cubits, and from the altar and upward <FI>are<Fi> four horns.

16And the Ariel was twelve cubits long, and twelve cubits broad, foursquare, with equal sides.

16And the fireplace is twelve cubits long and twelve cubits wide, square on its four sides.

16And the altar <FI>is<Fi> twelve long by twelve broad, square in its four squares.

17And the brim was fourteen cubits long, and fourteen cubits broad in the four corners thereof: and the crown round about it was half a cubit, and the bottom of it one cubit round about: and its steps turned toward the east.

17And the shelf is fourteen cubits long and fourteen cubits wide, on its four sides; the edge round it is half a cubit; the base of it is a cubit all round, and its steps are facing the east.

17And the border <FI>is<Fi> fourteen long by fourteen broad, at its four squares, and the border round about it <FI>is<Fi> half a cubit, and the centre to it <FI>is<Fi> a cubit round about, and its steps are looking eastward.'

18And he said to me: Son of man, thus saith the Lord God: These are the ceremonies of the altar, in what day soever it shall be made: that holocausts may be offered upon it, and blood poured out.

18And he said to me, Son of man, the Lord God has said, These are the rules for the altar, when they make it, for the offering of burned offerings on it and the draining out of the blood.

18And He saith unto me, `Son of man, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: These <FI>are<Fi> statutes of the altar in the day of its being made to cause burnt-offering to go up on it, and to sprinkle on it blood.

19And thou shalt give to the priests, and the Levites, that are of the race of Sadoc, who approach to me, saith the Lord God, to offer to me a calf of the herd for sin.

19You are to give to the priests, the Levites of the seed of Zadok, who come near to me, says the Lord God, to do my work, a young ox for a sin-offering.

19And thou hast given unto the priests, the Levites, who <FI>are<Fi> of the seed of Zadok--who are near unto Me, an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, to serve Me--a calf from the herd, for a sin-offering.

20And thou shalt take of his blood, and shalt put it upon the four horns thereof, and upon the four corners of the brim, and upon the crown round about: and thou shalt cleanse, and expiate it.

20You are to take some of its blood and put it on the four horns and on the four angles of the shelf and on the edge all round: and you are to make it clean and free from sin.

20And thou hast taken of its blood, and hast put it on its four horns, and on the four corners of its border, and on the border round about, and hast cleansed it, and purified it.

21And thou shalt take the calf, that is offered for sin: and thou shalt burn him in a separate place of the house without the sanctuary.

21And you are to take the ox of the sin-offering, and have it burned in the special place ordered for it in the house, outside the holy place.

21And thou hast taken the bullock of the sin-offering, and hast burnt it in the appointed place of the house at the outside of the sanctuary.

22And in the second day thou shalt offer a he goat without blemish for sin: and they shall expiate the altar, as they expiated it with the calf.

22And on the second day you are to have a he-goat without any mark on it offered for a sin-offering; and they are to make the altar clean as they did with the young ox.

22And on the second day thou dost bring near a kid of the goats, a perfect one, for a sin-offering, and they have cleansed the altar, as they cleansed <FI>it<Fi> for the bullock.

23And when thou shalt have made an end of the expiation thereof, thou shalt offer a calf of the herd without blemish, and a ram of the flock without blemish.

23And after you have made it clean, let a young ox without a mark be offered, and a male sheep from the flock without a mark.

23In thy finishing cleansing, thou dost bring near a calf, a son of the herd, a perfect one, and a ram out of the flock, a perfect one.

24And thou shalt offer them in the sight of the Lord, and the priests shall put salt upon them, and shall offer them a holocaust to the Lord.

24And you are to take them before the Lord, and the priests will put salt on them, offering them up for a burned offering to the Lord.

24And thou hast brought them near before Jehovah, and the priests have cast upon them salt, and have caused them to go up, a burnt-offering to Jehovah.

25Seven days shalt thou offer a he goat for sin daily: they shall offer also a calf of the herd, and a ram of the flock without blemish.

25Every day for seven days you are to give a goat for a sin-offering: and let them give in addition a young ox and a male sheep from the flock without any mark on them.

25Seven days thou dost prepare a goat for a sin-offering daily, and a bullock, a son of the herd, and a ram out of the flock, perfect ones, do they prepare.

26Seven days shall they expiate the altar, and shall cleanse it: and they shall consecrate it.

26For seven days they are to make offerings to take away sin from the altar and to make it clean; so they are to make it holy.

26Seven days they purify the altar, and have cleansed it, and filled their hand.

27And the days being expired, on the eighth day and thenceforward, the priests shall offer your holocausts upon the altar, and the peace offerings: and I will be pacified towards you, saith the Lord God.

27And when these days have come to an end, then on the eighth day and after, the priests will make your burned offerings on the altar and your peace-offerings; and I will take pleasure in you, says the Lord.

27And the days are completed, and it hath come to pass on the eighth day, and henceforth, the priests prepare on the altar your burnt-offerings and your peace-offerings, and I have accepted you--an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'
