1Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenthdayof the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
1And the word of the Lord came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, saying,
1And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, saying,
2Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this selfsame day: the king of Babylon drew close unto Jerusalem this selfsame day.
2Son of man, put down in writing this very day: The king of Babylon let loose the weight of his attack against Jerusalem on this very day.
2`Son of man, write for thee the name of the day--this self-same day leaned hath the king of Babylon toward Jerusalem in this self-same day--
3And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:
3And make a comparison for this uncontrolled people, and say to them, This is what the Lord has said: Put on the cooking-pot, put it on the fire and put water in it:
3and use unto the rebellious house a simile, and thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: To set on the pot, to set <FI>it<Fi> on, and also to pour into it water,
4gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
4And get the bits together, the fat tail, every good part, the leg and the top part of it: make it full of the best bones.
4To gather its pieces unto it, every good piece, Thigh and shoulder, the choice of the bones to fill in.
5Take the choice of the flock, and also a pile of wood for the bones under the caldron; make it boil well; yea, let the bones thereof be boiled in the midst of it.
5Take the best of the flock, put much wood under it: see that its bits are boiling well; let the bones be cooked inside it.
5The choice of the flock to take, And also to pile of the bones under it, Boil it thoroughly, yea, cook its bones in its midst.
6Wherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen upon it.
6For this is what the Lord has said: A curse is on the town of blood, the cooking-pot which is unclean inside, which has never been made clean! take out its bits; its fate is still to come on it.
6Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Woe <FI>to<Fi> the city of blood, A pot whose scum <FI>is<Fi> in it, And its scum hath not come out of it, By piece of it, by piece of it bring it out, Not fallen on it hath a lot.
7For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust.
7For her blood is in her; she has put it on the open rock not draining it on to the earth so that it might be covered with dust;
7For her blood in her midst hath been, On a clear place of a rock she hath set it, She hath not poured it on the earth, To cover it over with dust.
8That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered.
8In order that it might make wrath come up to give punishment, she has put her blood on the open rock, so that it may not be covered.
8To cause fury to come up to take vengeance, I have put her blood on a clear place of a rock--not to be covered.
9Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.
9For this cause the Lord has said: A curse is on the town of blood! and I will make great the burning mass.
9Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Woe <FI>to<Fi> the city of blood, yea, I--I make great the pile.
10Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned.
10Put on much wood, heating up the fire, boiling the flesh well, and making the soup thick, and let the bones be burned.
10Make abundant the wood, Kindle the fire, consume the flesh, And make the compound, And let the bones be burnt.
11Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that it may be hot, and the brass thereof may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the rust of it may be consumed.
11And I will put her on the coals so that she may be heated and her brass burned, so that what is unclean in her may become soft and her waste be completely taken away.
11And cause it to stand on its coals empty, So that its brass is hot and burning, Melted hath been in its midst its uncleanness, Consumed is its scum.
12She hath wearied herself with toil; yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her; her rust goeth not forth by fire.
12I have made myself tired to no purpose: still all the waste which is in her has not come out, it has an evil smell.
12<FI> With<Fi> sorrows she hath wearied herself, And the abundance of her scum goeth not out of her, In the fire <FI>is<Fi> her scum.
13In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed thee and thou wast not cleansed, thou shalt not be cleansed from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my wrath toward thee to rest.
13As for your unclean purpose: because I have been attempting to make you clean, but you have not been made clean from it, you will not be made clean till I have let loose my passion on you in full measure.
13In thine uncleanness <FI>is<Fi> wickedness, Because I have cleansed thee, And thou hast not been cleansed, From thine uncleanness thou art not cleansed again, Till I have caused My fury to rest on thee.
14I, Jehovah, have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.
14I the Lord have said the word and I will do it; I will not go back or have mercy, and my purpose will not be changed; in the measure of your ways and of your evil doings you will be judged, says the Lord.
14I, Jehovah, hath spoken, It hath come, and I have done <FI>it<Fi> , I do not free, nor do I spare, nor do I repent, According to thy ways, and according to thine acts, they have judged thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'
15Also the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
15And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
15And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,
16Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet thou shalt neither mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
16Son of man, see, I am taking away the desire of your eyes by disease: but let there be no sorrow or weeping or drops running from your eyes.
16`Son of man, lo, I am taking from thee the desire of thine eyes by a stroke, and thou dost not mourn, nor weep, nor let thy tear come.
17Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind thy headtire upon thee, and put thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.
17Let there be no sound of sorrow; make no weeping for your dead, put on your head-dress and your shoes on your feet, let not your lips be covered, and do not take the food of those in grief.
17Cease to groan, <FI>for<Fi> the dead thou dost make no mourning, thy bonnet bind on thee, and thy shoes thou dost put on thy feet, and thou dost not cover over the upper lip, and bread of men thou dost not eat.'
18So I spake unto the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
18So in the morning I was teaching the people and in the evening death took my wife; and in the morning I did what I had been ordered to do.
18And I speak unto the people in the morning, and my wife dieth in the evening, and I do in the morning as I have been commanded.
19And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?
19And the people said to me, Will you not make clear to us the sense of these things; is it for us you do them?
19And the people say unto me, `Dost thou not declare to us what these <FI>are<Fi> to us, that thou art doing?'
20Then I said unto them, The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
20Then I said to them, The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
20And I say unto them, `A word of Jehovah hath been unto me, saying:
21Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword.
21Say to the people of Israel, The Lord has said, See, I will make my holy place unclean, the pride of your strength, the pleasure of your eyes, and the desire of your soul; and your sons and daughters, who did not come with you here, will be put to the sword.
21Say to the house of Israel: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am polluting My sanctuary, The excellency of your strength, The desire of your eyes, and the pitied of your soul, And your sons and your daughters whom ye have left, by sword they do fall.
22And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
22And you will do as I have done, not covering your lips or taking the food of those in grief.
22And ye have done as I have done, On the upper lip ye are not covered, And bread of men ye do not eat.
23And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another.
23And your head-dresses will be on your heads and your shoes on your feet: there will be no sorrow or weeping; but you will be wasting away in the punishment of your evil-doing, and you will be looking at one another in wonder.
23And your bonnets <FI>are<Fi> on your heads, And your shoes <FI>are<Fi> on your feet, Ye do not mourn nor do ye weep, And ye have wasted away for your iniquities, And ye have howled one unto another.
24Thus shall Ezekiel be unto you a sign; according to all that he hath done shall ye do: when this cometh, then shall ye know that I am the Lord Jehovah.
24And Ezekiel will be a sign to you; everything he has done you will do: when this takes place, you will be certain that I am the Lord.
24And Ezekiel hath been to you for a type, According to all that he hath done ye do; In its coming in--ye have known that I <FI>am<Fi> the Lord Jehovah.
25And thou, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters,
25And as for you, son of man, your mouth will be shut in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that on which their hearts are fixed, and their sons and daughters.
25And thou, son of man, Is it not in the day of My taking from them their strength, The joy of their beauty, the desire of their eyes, And the song of their soul, Their sons and their daughters?
26that in that day he that escapeth shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
26In that day, one who has got away safe will come to you to give you news of it.
26In that day come doth the escaped one to thee. To cause the ears to hear.
27In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him that is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: so shalt thou be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.
27In that day your mouth will be open to him who has got away safe, and you will say words to him and your lips will no longer be shut: so you will be a sign to them and they will be certain that I am the Lord.
27In that day opened is thy mouth with the escaped, And thou speakest, and art not silent any more, And thou hast been to them for a type. And they have known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.'
