1Now let Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, come near from among the children of Israel, so that they may be my priests, even Aaron, and Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar, his sons.

1And thou shalt take thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may serve me as priest — Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

1`And thou, bring thou near unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from the midst of the sons of Israel, for his being priest to Me, <FI>even<Fi> Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, sons of Aaron;

2And make holy robes for Aaron your brother, so that he may be clothed with glory and honour.

2And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, for glory and for ornament.

2and thou hast made holy garments for Aaron thy brother, for honour and for beauty;

3Give orders to all the wise-hearted workmen, whom I have made full of the spirit of wisdom, to make robes for Aaron, so that he may be made holy as my priest.

3And thou shalt speak with all [that are] wise-hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to hallow him, that he may serve me as priest.

3and thou--thou dost speak unto all the wise of heart, whom I have filled <FI>with<Fi> a spirit of wisdom, and they have made the garments of Aaron to sanctify him for his being priest to Me.

4This is what they are to make: a priest's bag, an ephod, and a robe, and a coat of coloured needlework, a head-dress, and a linen band; they are to make holy robes for Aaron your brother and for his sons, so that they may do the work of priests for me.

4And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastplate, and an ephod, and a cloak, and a checkered vest, a turban, and a girdle; and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may serve me as priest.

4`And these <FI>are<Fi> the garments which they make: a breastplate, and an ephod, and an upper robe, and an embroidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle; yea, they have made holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and for his sons, for his being priest to Me.

5They are to take the gold and blue and purple and red and the best linen,

5And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus,

5`And they take the gold, and the blue, and the purple, and the scarlet, and the linen,

6And make the ephod of gold and blue and purple and red and the best linen, the work of a designer.

6and shall make the ephod of gold, blue, and purple, scarlet and twined byssus, of artistic work.

6and have made the ephod of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined linen, work of a designer;

7It is to have two bands stitched to it at the top of the arms, joining it together.

7It shall have two shoulder-pieces joined at the two ends thereof, where it is joined together.

7it hath two shoulders joining at its two ends, and it is joined.

8And the beautifully worked band, which goes on it, is to be of the same work and the same material, of gold and blue and purple and red and twisted linen-work.

8And the girdle of the ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same, according to its work of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet and twined byssus.

8`And the girdle of his ephod which <FI>is<Fi> on him, according to its work, is of the same, of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined linen.

9You are to take two beryl stones, on which the names of the children of Israel are to be cut:

9And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the children of Israel:

9`And thou hast taken the two shoham stones, and hast opened on them the names of the sons of Israel;

10Six names on the one stone and six on the other, in the order of their birth.

10six of their names on the one stone, and the six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.

10six of their names on the one stone, and the names of the remaining six on the second stone, according to their births;

11With the work of a jeweller, like the cutting of a stamp, the names of the children of Israel are to be cut on them, and they are to be fixed in twisted frames of gold.

11According to the work of an engraver in stone, as the engravings of a seal, shalt thou engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel; surrounded by enclosures of gold shalt thou make them.

11the work of an engraver in stone, openings of a signet, thou dost open the two stones by the names of the sons of Israel; turned round, embroidered <FI>with<Fi> gold, thou dost make them.

12And the two stones are to be placed on the ephod, over the arm-holes, to be stones of memory for the children of Israel: Aaron will have their names on his arms when he goes in before the Lord, to keep the Lord in mind of them.

12And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulder-pieces of the ephod [as] stones of memorial for the children of Israel; and Aaron shall bear their names before Jehovah upon his two shoulders for a memorial.

12`And thou hast set the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod--stones of memorial to the sons of Israel--and Aaron hath borne their names before Jehovah, on his two shoulders, for a memorial.

13And you are to make twisted frames of gold;

13And thou shalt make enclosures of gold;

13`And thou hast made embroidered things of gold,

14And two chains of the best gold, twisted like cords; and have the chains fixed on to the frames.

14and two chains of pure gold; of laced work shalt thou make them, of wreathen work, and fasten the wreathen chains to the enclosures.

14and two chains of pure gold, wreathed work thou dost make them, work of thick bands, and thou hast put the thick chains on the embroidered things.

15And make a priest's bag for giving decisions, designed like the ephod, made of gold and blue and purple and red and the best linen.

15And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment of artistic work, like the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus shalt thou make it.

15`And thou hast made a breastplate of judgment, work of a designer; according to the work of the ephod thou dost make it; of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined linen thou dost make it;

16It is to be square, folded in two, a hand-stretch long and a hand-stretch wide.

16Square shall it be, doubled; a span the length thereof, and a span the breadth thereof.

16it is square, doubled, a span its length, and a span its breadth.

17And on it you are to put four lines of jewels; the first line is to be a cornelian, a chrysolite, and an emerald;

17And thou shalt set in it settings of stones — four rows of stones: [one] row, a sardoin, a topaz, and an emerald — the first row;

17`And thou hast set in it settings of stone, four rows of stone; a row of sardius, topaz, and carbuncle <FI>is<Fi> the first row;

18The second, a ruby, a sapphire, and an onyx;

18and the second row, a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a diamond;

18and the second row <FI>is<Fi> emerald, sapphire, and diamond;

19The third, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;

19and the third row, an opal, an agate, and an amethyst;

19and the third row <FI>is<Fi> opal, agate, and amethyst;

20The fourth, a topaz, a beryl, and a jasper; they are to be fixed in twisted frames of gold.

20and the fourth row, a chrysolite, and an onyx, and a jasper; enclosed in gold shall they be in their settings.

20and the fourth row <FI>is<Fi> beryl, and onyx, and jasper; embroidered with gold are they in their settings,

21The jewels are to be twelve in number, for the names of the children of Israel; every jewel having the name of one of the twelve tribes cut on it as on a stamp.

21And the stones shall be according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, engraved as a seal: every one according to his name shall they be for the twelve tribes.

21and the stones are according to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, according to their names, openings of a signet, each by his name are they for the twelve tribes.

22And you are to make two chains of gold, twisted like cords, to be fixed to the priest's bag.

22And thou shalt make on the breastplate chains of laced work, of wreathen work, of pure gold.

22`And thou hast made on the breastplate wreathed chains, work of thick bands, of pure gold;

23And put two gold rings on the two ends of the bag.

23And thou shalt make on the breastplate two rings of gold, and shalt put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.

23and thou hast made on the breastplate two rings of gold, and hast put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate;

24Put the two gold chains on the two rings at the ends of the bag;

24And thou shalt put the two wreathen [cords] of gold in the two rings on the ends of the breastplate;

24and thou hast put the two thick bands of gold on the two rings at the ends of the breastplate;

25Joining the other ends of the chains to the gold frames and putting them on the front of the ephod, at the top of the arms.

25and the two ends of the two wreathen [cords] thou shalt fasten to the two enclosures, and shalt put [them] on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod, on the front thereof.

25and the two ends of the two thick bands thou dost put on the two embroidered things, and thou hast put <FI>them<Fi> on the shoulders of the ephod over-against its face.

26Then make two gold rings and put them on the lower ends of the bag, at the edge of it on the inner side nearest to the ephod.

26And thou shalt make two rings of gold, and shalt put them on the two ends of the breastplate, on the border thereof, which faceth the ephod inwards.

26`And thou hast made two rings of gold, and hast set them on the two ends of the breastplate, on its border, which <FI>is<Fi> over-against the ephod within;

27And make two more gold rings and put them on the front of the ephod at the top of the arms, at the join, over the worked band:

27And two rings of gold shalt thou make, and shalt put them upon the two shoulder-pieces of the ephod underneath, to the front thereof just by the coupling thereof, above the girdle of the ephod.

27and thou hast made two rings of gold, and hast put them on the two shoulders of the ephod, beneath, over-against its front, over-against its joining, above the girdle of the ephod,

28So that the rings on the bag may be fixed to the rings of the ephod by a blue cord and on to the band of the ephod, so that the bag may not come loose from the ephod.

28And they shall bind the breastplate with its rings to the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it may be above the girdle of the ephod, and that the breastplate be not loosed from the ephod.

28and they bind the breastplate by its rings unto the rings of the ephod with a ribbon of blue, to be above the girdle of the ephod, and the breastplate is not loosed from the ephod.

29And so Aaron will have the names of the children of Israel on the priest's bag over his heart whenever he goes into the holy place, to keep the memory of them before the Lord.

29And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment on his heart, when he goes in to the sanctuary, for a memorial before Jehovah continually.

29`And Aaron hath borne the names of the sons of Israel in the breastplate of judgment, on his heart, in his going in unto the sanctuary, for a memorial before Jehovah continually.

30And in the bag you are to put the Urim and Thummim, so that they may be on Aaron's heart whenever he goes in before the Lord; and Aaron may have the power of making decisions for the children of Israel before the Lord at all times.

30And thou shalt put into the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, that they may be upon Aaron's heart when he goeth in before Jehovah; and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before Jehovah continually.

30`And thou hast put unto the breastplate of judgment the Lights and the Perfections, and they have been on the heart of Aaron, in his going in before Jehovah, and Aaron hath borne the judgment of the sons of Israel on his heart before Jehovah continually.

31The robe which goes with the ephod is to be made all of blue;

31And thou shalt make the cloak of the ephod all of blue.

31`And thou hast made the upper robe of the ephod completely of blue,

32With a hole at the top, in the middle of it; the hole is to be edged with a band to make it strong like the hole in the coat of a fighting-man, so that it may not be broken open.

32And its opening for the head shall be in the midst thereof; there shall be a binding of woven work at its opening round about; as the opening of a coat of mail, it shall be in it — it shall not rend.

32and the opening for its head hath been in its midst, a border is to its opening round about, work of a weaver, as the opening of a habergeon there is to it; it is not rent.

33And round the skirts of it put fruits in blue and purple and red, with bells of gold between;

33And on the skirts thereof thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and purple, and scarlet, round about the skirts thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:

33`And thou hast made on its hem pomegranates of blue, and purple, and scarlet, on its hem round about, and bells of gold in their midst round about;

34A gold bell and a fruit in turn all round the skirts of the robe.

34a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, in the skirts of the cloak round about.

34a bell of gold and a pomegranate, a bell of gold and a pomegranate <FI>are<Fi> on the hems of the upper robe round about.

35Aaron is to put it on for his holy work; and the sound of it will be clear, when he goes into the holy place before the Lord, and when he comes out, keeping him safe from death.

35And it shall be on Aaron for service; that his sound may be heard when he goeth into the sanctuary before Jehovah, and when he cometh out, that he may not die.

35`And it hath been on Aaron to minister in, and its sound hath been heard in his coming in unto the sanctuary before Jehovah, and in his going out, and he doth not die.

36You are to make a plate of the best gold, cutting on it, as on a stamp, these words: HOLY TO THE LORD.

36And thou shalt make a thin plate of pure gold, and engrave on it, as the engravings of a seal, Holiness to Jehovah!

36`And thou hast made a flower of pure gold, and hast opened on it--openings of a signet--`Holy to Jehovah;'

37Put a blue cord on it and put it on the front of the twisted head-dress:

37And thou shalt put it on a lace of blue, and it shall be upon the turban — upon the front of the turban shall it be.

37and thou hast put it on a blue ribbon, and it hath been on the mitre--over-against the front of the mitre it is;

38And it will be over Aaron's brow, so that Aaron will be responsible for any error in all the holy offerings made by the children of Israel; it will be on his brow at all times, so that their offerings may be pleasing to the Lord.

38And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead, and Aaron shall bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all gifts of their holy things; and it shall be continually on his forehead, that they may be accepted before Jehovah.

38and it hath been on the forehead of Aaron, and Aaron hath borne the iniquity of the holy things which the sons of Israel do hallow, even all their holy gifts; and it hath been on his forehead continually for a pleasing thing for them before Jehovah.

39The coat is to be made of the best linen, worked in squares; and you are to make a head-dress of linen, and a linen band worked in needlework.

39And thou shalt weave the vest of byssus; and thou shalt make a turban of byssus; and thou shalt make a girdle of embroidery.

39`And thou hast embroidered the coat of linen, and hast made a mitre of linen, and a girdle thou dost make--work of an embroiderer.

40And for Aaron's sons you are to make coats, and bands, and head-dresses, so that they may be clothed with glory and honour.

40And for Aaron's sons thou shalt make vests; and thou shalt make for them girdles; and high caps shalt thou make for them, for glory and for ornament.

40`And for the sons of Aaron thou dost make coats, and thou hast made for them girdles, yea, bonnets thou dost make for them, for honour and for beauty;

41These you are to put on Aaron, your brother, and on his sons, putting oil on them, separating them and making them holy, to do the work of priests to me.

41And thou shalt clothe with them Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and hallow them, that they may serve me as priests.

41and thou hast clothed Aaron thy brother with them, and his sons with him, and hast anointed them, and hast consecrated their hand, and hast sanctified them, and they have been priests to Me.

42And you are to make them linen trousers, covering their bodies from the middle to the knee;

42And thou shalt make them linen trousers to cover the flesh of nakedness; from the loins even to the hips shall they reach.

42`And make thou for them linen trousers to cover the naked flesh: they are from the loins even unto the thighs;

43Aaron and his sons are to put these on whenever they go into the Tent of meeting or come near the altar, when they are doing the work of the holy place, so that they may be free from any sin causing death: this is to be an order for him and his seed after him for ever.

43And they shall be upon Aaron and his sons when they enter into the tent of meeting, or when they come near to the altar to serve in the sanctuary; that they may not bear iniquity and die — an everlasting statute for him and his seed after him.

43and they have been on Aaron and on his sons, in their going in unto the tent of meeting, or in their drawing nigh unto the altar to minister in the sanctuary, and they do not bear iniquity nor have they died; a statute age-during to him, and to his seed after him.
