1Therefore thou shalt love Jehovah thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his ordinances, and his commandments, alway.

1Therefore love the Lord thy God and observe his precepts and ceremonies, his judgments and commandments at all times.

1`And thou hast loved Jehovah thy God, and kept His charge, and His statutes, and His judgments, and His commands, all the days;

1So have love for the Lord your God, and give him worship, and keep his laws and his decisions and his orders at all times.

2And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children that have not known, and that have not seen the chastisement of Jehovah your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm,

2Know this day the things that your children know not, who saw not the chastisements of the Lord your God, his great doings and strong hand, and stretched out arm,

2and ye have known to-day--for it is not your sons who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of Jehovah your God, His greatness, His strong hand, and His stretched-out arm,

2And be certain in your minds this day; for these words are not said to your children, who have had no experience of the training of the Lord your God, and who have not seen his great power or his strong hand and his stretched-out arm,

3and his signs, and his works, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;

3The signs and works which he did in the midst of Egypt to king Pharao, and to all his land,

3and His signs, and His doings, which He hath done in the midst of Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to all his land;

3Or his signs and wonders which he did in Egypt, to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and all his land;

4and what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how Jehovah hath destroyed them unto this day;

4And to all the host of the Egyptians, and to their horses and chariots: how the waters of the Red Sea covered them, when they pursued you, and how the Lord destroyed them until this present day:

4and that which He hath done to the force of Egypt, to its horses, and to its chariot, when He hath caused the waters of the Red Sea to flow against their faces in their pursuing after them, and Jehovah destroyeth them, unto this day;

4And what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses and their war-carriages; how he made the waters of the Red Sea come up over them when they went after you, and how the Lord put an end to them even to this day;

5and what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came unto this place;

5And what he hath done to you in the wilderness, til you came to this place:

5and that which He hath done to you in the wilderness, till your coming in unto this place;

5And what he did for you in the waste land, till you came to this place;

6and what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the midst of all Israel:

6And to Dathan and Abiron the sons of Eliab, who was the son of Ruben: whom the earth, opening her mouth swallowed up with their households and tents, and all their substance, which they had in the midst of Israel.

6and that which He hath done to Dathan, and to Abiram, sons of Eliab, sons of Reuben, when the earth hath opened her mouth and swalloweth them, and their houses, and their tents, and all that liveth, which is at their feet, in the midst of all Israel:

6And what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; when they went down into the open mouth of the earth, with their families and their tents and every living thing which was theirs, before the eyes of all Israel:

7but your eyes have seen all the great work of Jehovah which he did.

7Your eyes have seen all the great works of the Lord, that he hath done,

7`--But <FI>it is<Fi> your eyes which are seeing all the great work of Jehovah, which He hath done;

7But your eyes have seen all the great works of the Lord which he has done.

8Therefore shall ye keep all the commandment which I command thee this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go over to possess it;

8That you may keep all his commandments, which I command you this day, and may go in, and possess the land, to which you are entering,

8and ye have kept all the command which I am commanding thee to-day, so that ye are strong, and have gone in, and possessed the land whither ye are passing over to possess it,

8So keep all the orders which I give you today, so that you may be strong, and go in and take the land which is to be your heritage;

9and that ye may prolong your days in the land, which Jehovah sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey.

9And may live in it a long time: which the Lord promised by oath to your fathers, and to their seed, a land which floweth with milk and honey.

9and so that ye prolong days on the ground which Jehovah hath sworn to your fathers to give to them and to their seed--a land flowing with milk and honey.

9And that your days may be long in the land which the Lord gave by an oath to your fathers and to their seed after them, a land flowing with milk and honey.

10For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs;

10For the land, which thou goest to possess, is not like the land of Egypt, from whence thou camest out, where, when the seed is sown, waters are brought in to water it after the manner of gardens.

10`For the land whither thou art going in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt whence ye have come out, where thou sowest thy seed, and hast watered with thy foot, as a garden of the green herb;

10For the land where you are going is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you put in your seeds, watering them with your foot, like a planted garden:

11but the land, whither ye go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven,

11But it is a land of hills and plains, expecting rain from heaven.

11but the land whither ye are passing over to possess it, <FI>is<Fi> a land of hills and valleys; of the rain of the heavens it drinketh water;

11But the land where you are going is a land of hills and valleys, drinking in the rain of heaven:

12a land which Jehovah thy God careth for: the eyes of Jehovah thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

12And the Lord thy God doth always visit it, and his eyes are on it from the beginning of the year unto the end thereof.

12a land which Jehovah thy God is searching; continually <FI>are<Fi> the eyes of Jehovah thy God upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the latter end of the year.

12A land cared for by the Lord your God: the eyes of the Lord your God are on it at all times from one end of the year to the other.

13And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love Jehovah your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

13If then you obey my commandments, which I command you this day, that you love the Lord your God, and serve him with all your heart, and with all your soul:

13`And it hath been--if thou hearken diligently unto My commands which I am commanding you to-day, to love Jehovah your God, and to serve Him with all your heart, and with all your soul--

13And it will be that if you truly give ear to the orders which I put before you this day, loving the Lord your God and worshipping him with all your heart and all your soul,

14that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy grain, and thy new wine, and thine oil.

14He will give to your land the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your corn, and your wine, and your oil,

14that I have given the rain of your land in its season--sprinkling and gathered--and thou hast gathered thy corn, and thy new wine, and thine oil,

14Then I will send rain on your land at the right time, the early rains and the late rains, so that you may get in your grain and your wine and your oil.

15And I will give grass in thy fields for thy cattle, and thou shalt eat and be full.

15And your hay out of the fields to feed your cattle, and that you may eat and be filled.

15and I have given herbs in thy field for thy cattle, and thou hast eaten, and been satisfied.

15And I will give grass in your fields for your cattle, so that you may have food in full measure.

16Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

16Beware lest perhaps your heart be deceived, and you depart from the Lord, and serve strange gods, and adore them:

16`Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be enticed, and ye have turned aside, and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them,

16But take care that your hearts are not turned to false ways so that you become servants and worshippers of other gods;

17and the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and he shut up the heavens, so that there shall be no rain, and the land shall not yield its fruit; and ye perish quickly from off the good land which Jehovah giveth you.

17And the Lord being angry shut up heaven, that the rain come not down, nor the earth yield her fruit, and you perish quickly from the excellent land, which the Lord will give you.

17and the anger of Jehovah hath burned against you, and He hath restrained the heavens, and there is no rain, and the ground doth not give her increase, and ye have perished hastily from off the good land which Jehovah is giving to you.

17For if you do so, the wrath of the Lord will be burning against you, and the heaven will be shut up so that there is no rain and the land will give no fruit; and in a very little time you will be cut off from the good land which the Lord is giving you.

18Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and ye shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

18Lay up these words in your hearts and minds, and hang them for a sign on your hands, and place them between your eyes.

18`And ye have placed these my words on your heart, and on your soul, and have bound them for a sign on your hand, and they have been for frontlets between your eyes;

18So keep these words deep in your heart and in your soul, and have them fixed on your hand for a sign and marked on your brow;

19And ye shall teach them your children, talking of them, when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

19Teach your children that they meditate on them, when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest on the way, and when thou liest down and risest up.

19and ye have taught them to your sons, by speaking of them in thy sitting in thy house, and in thy going in the way, and in thy lying down, and in thy rising up,

19Teaching them to your children, and talking of them when you are at rest in your house or walking by the way, when you go to sleep and when you get up:

20And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates;

20Thou shalt write them upon the posts and the doors of thy house:

20and hast written them on the side-posts of thy house, and on thy gates,

20Writing them on the pillars of your houses and over the doors of your towns:

21that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Jehovah sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.

21That thy days may be multiplied, and the days of thy children in the land which the Lord swore to thy fathers, that he would give them as long as the heaven hangeth over the earth.

21so that your days are multiplied, and the days of your sons, on the ground which Jehovah hath sworn to your fathers to give to them, as the days of the heavens on the earth.

21So that your days, and the days of your children, may be long in the land which the Lord by his oath to your fathers said he would give them, like the days of the eternal heavens.

22For if ye shall diligently keep all this commandment which I command you, to do it, to love Jehovah your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;

22For if you keep the commandments which I command you, and do them, to love the Lord your God, and walk in all his ways, cleaving unto him,

22`For, if ye diligently keep all this command which I am commanding you--to do it, to love Jehovah your God, to walk in all His ways, and to cleave to Him,

22For if you take care to keep all the orders which I give you, and to do them; loving the Lord your God and walking in all his ways and being true to him:

23then will Jehovah drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.

23The Lord will destroy all these nations before your face, and you shall possess them, which are greater and stronger than you.

23then hath Jehovah dispossessed all these nations from before you, and ye have possessed nations, greater and mightier than you;

23Then the Lord will send these nations in flight before you, and you will take the lands of nations greater and stronger than yourselves.

24Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the hinder sea shall be your border.

24Every place, that your foot shall tread upon, shall be yours. From the desert, and from Libanus, from the great river Euphrates unto the western sea shall be your borders.

24every place on which the sole of your foot treadeth is yours; from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Phrat, even unto the farther sea is your border;

24Every place where you put your foot will be yours: from the waste land and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates as far as the Great Sea, will be the limits of your land.

25There shall no man be able to stand before you: Jehovah your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath spoken unto you.

25None shall stand against you: the Lord your God shall lay the dread and fear of you upon all the land that you shall tread upon, as he hath spoken to you.

25no man doth station himself in your presence; your dread and your fear doth Jehovah your God put on the face of all the land on which ye tread, as He hath spoken to you.

25All people will give way before you: for the Lord your God will put the fear of you on all the land through which you go, as he has said.

26Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:

26Behold I set forth in your sight this day a blessing and a curse:

26`See, I am setting before you to-day a blessing and a reviling:

26Today I put before you a blessing and a curse:

27the blessing, if ye shall hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you this day;

27A blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day:

27the blessing, when ye hearken unto the commands of Jehovah your God, which I am commanding you to-day;

27The blessing if you give ear to the orders of the Lord your God, which I give you this day:

28and the curse, if ye shall not hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

28A curse, if you obey not the commandments of the Lord your God, but revolt from the way which now I shew you, and walk after strange gods which you know not.

28and the reviling, if ye do not hearken unto the commands of Jehovah your God, and have turned aside out of the way which I am commanding you to-day, to go after other gods which ye have not known.

28And the curse if you do not give ear to the orders of the Lord your God, but let yourselves be turned from the way which I have put before you this day, and go after other gods which are not yours.

29And it shall come to pass, when Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt set the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

29And when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land, whither thou goest to dwell, thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Garizim, the curse upon mount Hebal:

29`And it hath been, when Jehovah thy God doth bring thee in unto the land whither thou art going in to possess it, that thou hast given the blessing on mount Gerizim, and the reviling on mount Ebal;

29And when the Lord your God has taken you into the land of your heritage, you are to put the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.

30Are they not beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites that dwell in the Arabah, over against Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?

30Which are beyond the Jordan, behind the way that goeth to the setting of the sun, in the land of the Chanaanite who dwelleth in the plain country over against Galgala, which is near the valley that reacheth and entereth far.

30are they not beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going in of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite, who is dwelling in the plain over-against Gilgal, near the oaks of Moreh?

30Are they not on the other side of Jordan, looking west, in the land of the Canaanites living in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, by the holy tree of Moreh?

31For ye are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Jehovah your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.

31For you shall pass over the Jordan, to possess the land, which the Lord your God will give you, that you may have it and possess it.

31for ye are passing over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Jehovah your God is giving to you; and ye have possessed it, and dwelt in it,

31For you are about to go over Jordan to take the heritage which the Lord your God is giving you, and it will be your resting-place.

32And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you this day.

32See therefore that you fulfil the ceremonies and judgments, which I shall set this day before you.

32and observed to do all the statutes and the judgments which I am setting before you to day.

32And you are to take care to keep all the laws and the decisions which I put before you today.
