1If, then, ye were raised with the Christ, the things above seek ye, where the Christ is, on the right hand of God seated,
1If then you have a new life with Christ, give your attention to the things of heaven, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
1If therefore ye have been raised with the Christ, seek the things [which are] above, where the Christ is, sitting at [the] right hand ofGod:
2the things above mind ye, not the things upon the earth,
2Keep your mind on the higher things, not on the things of earth.
2have your mind on the things [that are] above, not on the things [that are] on the earth;
3for ye did die, and your life hath been hid with the Christ in God;
3For your life on earth is done, and you have a secret life with Christ in God.
3for ye have died, and your life is hid with the Christ inGod.
4when the Christ--our life--may be manifested, then also we with him shall be manifested in glory.
4At the coming of Christ who is our life, you will be seen with him in glory.
4When the Christ is manifested who [is] our life, then shall ye also be manifested with him in glory.
5Put to death, then, your members that <FI>are<Fi> upon the earth--whoredom, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and the covetousness, which is idolatry--
5Then put to death your bodies which are of the earth; wrong use of the flesh, unclean things, passion, evil desires and envy, which is the worship of strange gods;
5Put to death therefore your members which [are] upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, vile passions, evil lust, and unbridled desire, which is idolatry.
6because of which things cometh the anger of God upon the sons of the disobedience,
6Because of which the wrath of God comes on those who go against his orders;
6On account of which things the wrath ofGod comes upon the sons of disobedience.
7in which also ye--ye did walk once, when ye lived in them;
7Among whom you were living in the past, when you did such things.
7In which ye also once walked when ye lived in these things.
8but now put off, even ye, the whole--anger, wrath, malice, evil-speaking, filthy talking--out of your mouth.
8But now it is right for you to put away all these things; wrath, passion, bad feeling, curses, unclean talk;
8But now, put off, ye also, all [these] things, wrath, anger, malice, blasphemy, vile language out of your mouth.
9Lie not one to another, having put off the old man with his practices,
9Do not make false statements to one another; because you have put away the old man with all his doings,
9Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his deeds,
10and having put on the new, which is renewed in regard to knowledge, after the image of Him who did create him;
10And have put on the new man, which has become new in knowledge after the image of his maker;
10and having put on the new, renewed into full knowledge according to [the] image of him that has created him;
11where there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, foreigner, Scythian, servant, freeman--but the all and in all--Christ.
11Where there is no Greek or Jew, no one with circumcision or without circumcision, no division between nations, no servant or free man: but Christ is all and in all.
11wherein there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondman, freeman; but Christ [is] everything, and in all.
12Put on, therefore, as choice ones of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humble-mindedness, meekness, long-suffering,
12As saints of God, then, holy and dearly loved, let your behaviour be marked by pity and mercy, kind feeling, a low opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, and a power of undergoing all things;
12Put on therefore, as [the] elect ofGod, holy and beloved, bowels of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, longsuffering;
13forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any one with any one may have a quarrel, as also the Christ did forgive you--so also ye;
13Being gentle to one another and having forgiveness for one another, if anyone has done wrong to his brother, even as the Lord had forgiveness for you:
13forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any should have a complaint against any; even as the Christ has forgiven you, so also [do] ye.
14and above all these things, <FI>have<Fi> love, which is a bond of the perfection,
14And more than all, have love; the only way in which you may be completely joined together.
14And to all these [add] love, which is the bond of perfectness.
15and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye were called in one body, and become thankful.
15And let the peace of Christ be ruling in your hearts, as it was the purpose of God for you to be one body; and give praise to God at all times.
15And let the peace of Christ preside in your hearts, to which also ye have been called in one body, and be thankful.
16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing each other, in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, in grace singing in your hearts to the Lord;
16Let the word of Christ be in you in all wealth of wisdom; teaching and helping one another with songs of praise and holy words, making melody to God with grace in your hearts.
16Let the word of the Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another, in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts toGod.
17and all, whatever ye may do in word or in work, <FI>do<Fi> all things in the name of the Lord Jesus--giving thanks to the God and Father, through him.
17And whatever you do, in word or in act, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving praise to God the Father through him.
17And everything, whatever ye may do in word or in deed, [do] all things in [the] name of [the] Lord Jesus, giving thanks toGod the Father by him.
18The wives! be subject to your own husbands, as is fit in the Lord;
18Wives, be under the authority of your husbands, as is right in the Lord.
18Wives, be subject to [your] husbands, as is fitting in [the] Lord.
19the husbands! love your wives, and be not bitter with them;
19Husbands, have love for your wives, and be not bitter against them.
19Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
20the children! obey the parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord;
20Children, do the orders of your fathers and mothers in all things, for this is pleasing to the Lord.
20Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing in [the] Lord.
21the fathers! vex not your children, lest they be discouraged.
21Fathers, do not be hard on your children, so that their spirit may not be broken.
21Fathers, do not vex your children, to the end that they be not disheartened.
22The servants! obey in all things those who are masters according to the flesh, not in eye-service as men-pleasers, but in simplicity of heart, fearing God;
22Servants, in all things do the orders of your natural masters; not only when their eyes are on you, as pleasers of men, but with all your heart, fearing the Lord:
22Bondmen, obey in all things your masters according to flesh; not with eye-services, as men-pleasers, but in simplicity of heart, fearing the Lord.
23and all, whatever ye may do--out of soul work--as to the Lord, and not to men,
23Whatever you do, do it readily, as to the Lord and not to men;
23Whatsoever ye do, labour at it heartily, as [doing it] to the Lord, and not to men;
24having known that from the Lord ye shall receive the recompense of the inheritance--for the Lord Christ ye serve;
24Being certain that the Lord will give you the reward of the heritage: for you are the servants of the Lord Christ.
24knowing that of [the] Lord ye shall receive the recompense of the inheritance; ye serve the Lord Christ.
25and he who is doing unrighteously shall receive what he did unrighteously, and there is no acceptance of persons.
25For the wrongdoer will have punishment for the wrong he has done, without respect for any man's position.
25For he that does a wrong shall receive the wrong he has done, and there is no respect of persons.
