1Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ;
1From Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2May you have grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3We are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, even as it is meet, for that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the love of each one of you all toward one another aboundeth;
3We ought to thank God for you always, brothers and sisters, as is only right, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.
4so that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which ye endure;
4Therefore, we ourselves brag about you among the churches of God because of your perseverance and faith during all the persecutions and troubles you are going through.
5which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God; to the end that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
5This is clear evidence that God honors justice, and as a result, you will be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
6if so be that it is a righteous thing with God to recompense affliction to them that afflict you,
6God is fair, and he will pay back trouble to those who are troubling you.
7and to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire,
7He will give rest to you who are being troubled and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his powerful angels in flaming fire.
8rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus:
8He will punish those who do not know God and those who do not obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus.碎
9who shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,
9They will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction, separated from the presence of the Lord and from his glorious power.
10when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all them that believed (because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day.
10This will happen on the day he comes to be honored by his holy people and to be admired by everyone who has believed—including you, because you believed the testimony we gave you.
11To which end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfil every desire of goodness and every work of faith, with power;
11With this in mind, we always pray for you, asking that our God would make you worthy of his call and that by his power he would fulfill every good desire you have and every work produced by your faith.
