What 2 Corinthians 7:14 means
Paul had told Titus good things about the Corinthians, and he is relieved that his confidence was vindicated. Just as his teaching to the Corinthians was truthful, so his commendation of them to Titus turned out true. Integrity runs both directions—toward the church and toward coworkers. This moment repairs frayed trust: Paul’s “boasting” is not flattery but an honest report of what God was doing among them. When believers live out the truth, leaders are not put to shame for commending them. The circle of trust tightens, and the community is strengthened in sincerity, transparency, and mutual respect.

Context
Building on Titus’s refreshed spirit, Paul confirms that his prior commendations were accurate. This reinforces the restored bond between apostle, emissary, and church. The next verse will note Titus’s deepened affection, rooted in the Corinthians’ obedience and reverent reception of him. Together these verses demonstrate that repentance produces not only doctrinal alignment but also affectionate, trustworthy relationships.
v.13Therefore we have been comforted: and in our comfort we joyed the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit hath been refreshed by you all.
v.14This passage
v.15And his affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.
