2 Corinthians 4

1Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we faint not:

1For this reason, because we have been made servants of this new order, through the mercy given to us, we are strong:

1Therefore, having this ministry, as we have had mercy shewn us, we faint not.

1Because of this, having this ministration, according as we did receive kindness, we do not faint,

2but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

2And we have given up the secret things of shame, not walking in false ways, and not making use of the word of God with deceit; but by the revelation of what is true, as before God, we have the approval of every man's sense of right and wrong.

2But we have rejected the hidden things of shame, not walking in deceit, nor falsifying the word ofGod, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every conscience of men beforeGod.

2but did renounce for ourselves the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor deceitfully using the word of God, but by the manifestation of the truth recommending ourselves unto every conscience of men, before God;

3And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish:

3But if our good news is veiled, it is veiled from those who are on the way to destruction:

3But if also our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in those that are lost;

3and if also our good news is vailed, in those perishing it is vailed,

4in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.

4Because the god of this world has made blind the minds of those who have not faith, so that the light of the good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, might not be shining on them.

4in whom thegod of this world has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so that the radiancy of the glad tidings of the glory of the Christ, who is [the] image ofGod, should not shine forth [for them].

4in whom the god of this age did blind the minds of the unbelieving, that there doth not shine forth to them the enlightening of the good news of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God;

5For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.

5For our preaching is not about ourselves, but about Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants through Jesus.

5For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus Lord, and ourselves your bondmen for Jesus' sake.

5for not ourselves do we preach, but Christ Jesus--Lord, and ourselves your servants because of Jesus;

6Seeing it is God, that said, Light shall shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

6Seeing that it is God who said, Let light be shining out of the dark, who has put in our hearts the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

6Because [it is] theGod who spoke that out of darkness light should shine who has shone in our hearts for the shining forth of the knowledge of the glory ofGod in [the] face of [Jesus] Christ.

6because <FI>it is<Fi> God who said, Out of darkness light <FI>is<Fi> to shine, who did shine in our hearts, for the enlightening of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves;

7But we have this wealth in vessels of earth, so that it may be seen that the power comes not from us but from God;

8we are pressed on every side, yet not straitened; perplexed, yet not unto despair;

8every way afflicted, but not straitened; seeing no apparent issue, but our way not entirely shut up;

8on every side being in tribulation, but not straitened; perplexed, but not in despair;

9pursued, yet not forsaken; smitten down, yet not destroyed;

9We are cruelly attacked, but not without hope; we are made low, but we are not without help;

9persecuted, but not abandoned; cast down, but not destroyed;

9persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

10always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body.

10In our bodies there is ever the mark of the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be seen in our bodies.

10at all times the dying of the Lord Jesus bearing about in the body, that the life also of Jesus in our body may be manifested,

11For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

11For, while living, we are still being given up to death because of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be seen in our flesh, though it is under the power of death.

12So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

13But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, I believed, and therefore did I speak; we also believe, and therefore also we speak;

14knowing that he that raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also with Jesus, and shall present us with you.

14Because we are certain that he who made the Lord Jesus come back from the dead, will do the same for us, and will give us a place in his glory with you.

15For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound unto the glory of God.

15For we go through all things on account of you, because the greater the number to whom the grace is given, the greater is the praise to the glory of God.

15for the all things <FI>are<Fi> because of you, that the grace having been multiplied, because of the thanksgiving of the more, may abound to the glory of God;

16Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.

16For which cause we do not give way to weariness; but though our outer man is getting feebler, our inner man is made new day by day.

17For our light affliction, which is for the moment, worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;

17for the momentary light matter of our tribulation, more and more exceedingly an age-during weight of glory doth work out for us--

18while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

18While our minds are not on the things which are seen, but on the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are for a time; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

18we not looking to the things seen, but to the things not seen; for the things seen <FI>are<Fi> temporary, but the things not seen <FI>are<Fi> age-during.
