1Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.
1Paul and Silvanus and Timotheus to the assembly of Thessalonians inGod [the] Father and [the] Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.
1Paul and Sylvanus and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians: in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ.
2We give praise to God at all times for you, keeping you in memory in our prayers;
2We give thanks toGod always for you all, making mention of you at our prayers,
2Grace be to you and peace. We give thanks to God always for you all: making a remembrance of you in our prayers without ceasing,
3Having ever in mind your work of faith and acts of love and the strength of your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;
3remembering unceasingly your work of faith, and labour of love, and enduring constancy of hope, of our Lord Jesus Christ, before ourGod and Father;
3Being mindful of the work of your faith and labour and charity: and of the enduring of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ before God and our Father.
4Being conscious, my brothers, dear to God, that you have been marked out by God's purpose;
4knowing, brethren beloved byGod, your election.
4Knowing, brethren, beloved of God, your election:
5Because our good news came to you, not in word only, but in power, and in the Holy Spirit, so that you were completely certain of it; even as you saw what our behaviour to you was like from our love to you.
5For our glad tidings were not with you in word only, but also in power, and in [the] Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; even as ye know what we were among you for your sakes:
5For our gospel hath not been unto you in word only, but in power also: and in the Holy Ghost and in much fulness, as you know what manner of men we have been among you for your sakes.
6And you took us and the Lord as your example, after the word had come to you in much trouble, with joy in the Holy Spirit;
6and ye became our imitators, and of the Lord, having accepted the word in much tribulation with joy of [the] Holy Spirit,
6And you became followers of us and of the Lord: receiving the word in much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
7So that you became an example to all those who have faith in Christ in Macedonia and Achaia.
7so that ye became models to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia:
7So that you were made a pattern to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.
8For not only was the word of the Lord sounding out from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith in God is made clear; so that we have no need to say anything.
8for the word of the Lord sounded out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith which [is] towardsGod has gone abroad, so that we have no need to say anything;
8For from you was spread abroad the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and in Achaia but also in every place: your faith which is towards God, is gone forth, so that we need not to speak any thing.
9For they themselves give the news of how we came among you; and how you were turned from images to God, to the worship of a true and living God,
9for they themselves relate concerning us what entering in we had to you, and how ye turned toGod from idols to serve a living and trueGod,
9For they themselves relate of us, what manner of entering in we had unto you: and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God.
10Waiting for his Son from heaven, who came back from the dead, even Jesus, our Saviour from the wrath to come.
10and to await his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from among the dead, Jesus, our deliverer from the coming wrath.
10And to wait for his Son from heaven (whom he raised up from the dead), Jesus, who hath delivered us from the wrath to come.
