1Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to be judged before the unjust: and not before the saints?
1Dare any one of you, having a matter against another, prosecute his suit before the unjust, and not before the saints?
2Know you not that the saints shall judge this world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
2Do ye not then know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world is judged by you, are ye unworthy of [the] smallest judgments?
3Know you not that we shall judge angels? How much more things of this world?
3Do ye not know that we shall judge angels? and not then matters of this life?
4If therefore you have judgments of things pertaining to this world, set them to judge who are the most despised in the church.
4If then ye have judgments as to things of this life, set those [to judge] who are little esteemed in the assembly.
5I speak to your shame. Is it so that there is not among you any one wise man that is able to judge between his brethren?
5I speak to you [to put you] to shame. Thus there is not a wise person among you, not even one, who shall be able to decide between his brethren!
6But brother goeth to law with brother: and that before unbelievers.
6But brother prosecutes his suit with brother, and that before unbelievers.
7Already indeed there is plainly a fault among you, that you have law suits one with another. Why do you not rather take wrong? Why do you not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
7Already indeed then it is altogether a fault in you that ye have suits between yourselves. Why do ye not rather suffer wrong? why are ye not rather defrauded?
8But you do wrong and defraud: and that to your brethren.
8But ye do wrong, and defraud, and this [your] brethren.
9Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: Neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers:
9Do ye not know that unrighteous [persons] shall not inherit [the] kingdom ofGod? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who make women of themselves, nor who abuse themselves with men,
10Nor the effeminate nor liers with mankind nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor railers nor extortioners shall possess the kingdom of God.
10nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor abusive persons, nor [the] rapacious, shall inherit [the] kingdom ofGod.
11And such some of you were. But you are washed: but you are sanctified: but you are justified: in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God.
11And these things were some of you; but ye have been washed, but ye have been sanctified, but ye have been justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of ourGod.
12All things are lawful to me: but all things are not expedient. All things are lawful to me: but I will not be brought under the power of any.
12All things are lawful to me, but all things do not profit; all things are lawful to me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
13Meat for the belly and the belly for the meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord: and the Lord for the body.
13Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats; butGod will bring to nothing both it and them: but the body [is] not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14Now God hath raised up the Lord and will raise us up also by his power.
14AndGod has both raised up the Lord, and will raise us up from among [the dead] by his power.
15Know you not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid!
15Do ye not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then, taking the members of the Christ, make [them] members of a harlot? Far be the thought.
16Or know you not that he who is joined to a harlot is made one body? For they shall be, saith he, two in one flesh.
16Do ye not know that he [that is] joined to the harlot is one body? for the two, he says, shall be one flesh.
17But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.
17But he that [is] joined to the Lord is one Spirit.
18Fly fornication. Every sin that a man doth is without the body: but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
18Flee fornication. Every sin which a man may practise is without the body, but he that commits fornication sins against his own body.
