1Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to be judged before the unjust: and not before the saints?

1How is it, that if any one of you has a cause at law against another, he takes it before a Gentile judge and not before the saints?

1Dare any of you, having a matter against his neighbor, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?

2Know you not that the saints shall judge this world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

2Is it not certain that the saints will be the judges of the world? if then the world will be judged by you, are you unable to give a decision about the smallest things?

2Or know ye not that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world is judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

3Know you not that we shall judge angels? How much more things of this world?

3Is it not certain that we are to be the judges of angels? how much more then of the things of this life?

3Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more, things that pertain to this life?

4If therefore you have judgments of things pertaining to this world, set them to judge who are the most despised in the church.

4If then there are questions to be judged in connection with the things of this life, why do you put them in the hands of those who have no position in the church?

4If then ye have to judge things pertaining to this life, do ye set them to judge who are of no account in the church?

5I speak to your shame. Is it so that there is not among you any one wise man that is able to judge between his brethren?

5I say this to put you to shame. Is there not among you one wise man who may be able to give a decision between his brothers?

5I say this to move you to shame. What, cannot there be found among you one wise man who shall be able to decide between his brethren,

6But brother goeth to law with brother: and that before unbelievers.

7Already indeed there is plainly a fault among you, that you have law suits one with another. Why do you not rather take wrong? Why do you not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

7More than this, it is not to your credit to have causes at law with one another at all. Why not put up with wrong? why not undergo loss?

7Nay, already it is altogether a defect in you, that ye have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather take wrong? why not rather be defrauded?

8But you do wrong and defraud: and that to your brethren.

8So far from doing this, you yourselves do wrong and take your brothers' property.

8Nay, but ye yourselves do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

9Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: Neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers:

9Have you not knowledge that evil-doers will have no part in the kingdom of God? Have no false ideas about this: no one who goes after the desires of the flesh, or gives worship to images, or is untrue when married, or is less than a man, or makes a wrong use of men,

9Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men,

10Nor the effeminate nor liers with mankind nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor railers nor extortioners shall possess the kingdom of God.

10Or is a thief, or the worse for drink, or makes use of strong language, or takes by force what is not his, will have any part in the kingdom of God.

10nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

11And such some of you were. But you are washed: but you are sanctified: but you are justified: in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God.

11And such were some of you; but you have been washed, you have been made holy, you have been given righteousness in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

11And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

12All things are lawful to me: but all things are not expedient. All things are lawful to me: but I will not be brought under the power of any.

12I am free to do all things; but not all things are wise. I am free to do all things; but I will not let myself come under the power of any.

13Meat for the belly and the belly for the meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord: and the Lord for the body.

13Food is for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will put an end to them together. But the body is not for the desires of the flesh, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body:

14Now God hath raised up the Lord and will raise us up also by his power.

15Know you not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid!

15Do you not see that your bodies are part of the body of Christ? how then may I take what is a part of the body of Christ and make it a part of the body of a loose woman? such a thing may not be.

15Know ye not that your bodies are members of Christ? shall I then take away the members of Christ, and make them members of a harlot? God forbid.

16Or know you not that he who is joined to a harlot is made one body? For they shall be, saith he, two in one flesh.

16Or do you not see that he who is joined to a loose woman is one body with her? for God has said, The two of them will become one flesh.

16Or know ye not that he that is joined to a harlot is one body? for, The twain, saith he, shall become one flesh.

17But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.

17But he who is united to the Lord is one spirit.

17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

18Fly fornication. Every sin that a man doth is without the body: but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

18Keep away from the desires of the flesh. Every sin which a man does is outside of the body; but he who goes after the desires of the flesh does evil to his body.

18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

19Or know you not that your members are the temple of the Holy Ghost, who is in you, whom you have from God: and you are not your own?

19Or are you not conscious that your body is a house for the Holy Spirit which is in you, and which has been given to you by God? and you are not the owners of yourselves;

19Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own;

20For you are bought with a great price. Glorify and bear God in your body.

20For a payment has been made for you: let God be honoured in your body.

20for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.
