1It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.

1It is actually reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even among the Gentiles, that oneof you hath his father’s wife.

1Whoredom is actually heard of among you, and such whoredom as is not even named among the nations--as that one hath the wife of the father! --

1It is said, in fact, that there is among you a sin of the flesh, such as is not seen even among the Gentiles, that one of you has his father's wife.

2And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

2And ye are puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he that had done this deed might be taken away from among you.

2and ye are having been puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he may be removed out of the midst of you who did this work,

2And in place of feeling sorrow, you are pleased with yourselves, so that he who has done this thing has not been sent away from among you.

3For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

3For I verily, being absent in body but present in spirit, have already as though I were present judged him that hath so wrought this thing,

3for I indeed, as being absent as to the body, and present as to the spirit, have already judged, as being present, him who so wrought this thing:

3For I myself, being present in spirit though not in body, have come to a decision about him who has done this thing;

4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

4in the name of our Lord Jesus, ye being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,

4in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ--ye being gathered together, also my spirit--with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

4In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you have come together with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,

5To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

5to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

5to deliver up such a one to the Adversary for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

5That this man is to be handed over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may have forgiveness in the day of the Lord Jesus.

6Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

6Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

6Not good <FI>is<Fi> your glorying; have ye not known that a little leaven the whole lump doth leaven?

6This pride of yours is not good. Do you not see that a little leaven makes a change in all the mass?

7Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

7Purge out the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, even as ye are unleavened. For our passover also hath been sacrificed, even Christ:

7cleanse out, therefore, the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, according as ye are unleavened, for also our passover for us was sacrificed--Christ,

7Take away, then, the old leaven, so that you may be a new mass, even as you are without leaven. For Christ has been put to death as our Passover.

8Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

8wherefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

8so that we may keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with unleavened food of sincerity and truth.

8Let us then keep the feast, not with old leaven, and not with the leaven of evil thoughts and acts, but with the unleavened bread of true thoughts and right feelings.

9I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

9I wrote unto you in my epistle to have no company with fornicators;

9I did write to you in the epistle, not to keep company with whoremongers--

9In my letter I said to you that you were not to keep company with those who go after the desires of the flesh;

10Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

10not at all meaning with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world:

10and not certainly with the whoremongers of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, seeing ye ought then to go forth out of the world--

10But I had not in mind the sinners who are outside the church, or those who have a desire for and take the property of others, or those who give worship to images; for it is not possible to keep away from such people without going out of the world completely:

11But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

11but as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat.

11and now, I did write to you not to keep company with <FI>him<Fi> , if any one, being named a brother, may be a whoremonger, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner--with such a one not even to eat together;

11But the sense of my letter was that if a brother had the name of being one who went after the desires of the flesh, or had the desire for other people's property, or was in the way of using violent language, or being the worse for drink, or took by force what was not his, you might not keep company with such a one, or take food with him.

12For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

12For what have I to do with judging them that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within?

12for what have I also those without to judge? those within do ye not judge?

12For it is no business of mine to be judging those who are outside; but it is yours to be judging those who are among you;

13But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

13But them that are without God judgeth. Put away the wicked man from among yourselves.

13and those without God doth judge; and put ye away the evil from among yourselves.

13As for those who are outside, God is their judge. So put away the evil man from among you.
