What 1 Corinthians 16:19 means

Paul conveys greetings from the churches of Asia and from Aquila and Prisca, along with the church that meets in their house. This widens the Corinthians’ horizon: they belong to a network of congregations bound in the Lord. Aquila and Prisca model hospitality and faithful partnership, opening their home for worship. Such house gatherings were common and effective. The greeting is “much in the Lord,” marking it as more than social courtesy; it is fellowship grounded in Christ. These connections encourage mutual care and remind Corinth that their conduct and welfare matter to believers far beyond their city.

Context

Having commended local servants (vv.15–18), Paul broadens the lens to include regional churches. Verse 19 brings salutations from Asia and from Aquila and Prisca with their house church. Verse 20 will add greetings from all the brethren and instruct the Corinthians to greet each other with a holy kiss. These expressions of unity prepare for Paul’s personal autograph (v.21), a solemn boundary statement (v.22), and the final benedictions (vv.23–24). The sequence weaves personal affection with corporate solidarity.

v.18For they refreshed my spirit and yours: acknowledge ye therefore them that are such.

v.19This passage

v.20All the brethren salute you. Salute one another with a holy kiss.
