What Revelation 19:7 means

The call goes out to rejoice and give God glory because the marriage of the Lamb has arrived. The Lamb is Christ, whose sacrificial love secured a people for Himself. His wife—His redeemed people—has made herself ready, expressing a readiness shaped by grace and faithfulness. The marriage image communicates intimacy, covenant loyalty, and festal joy. What judgment removed, the wedding replaces: instead of the harlot’s seductions, a holy union is celebrated. The bride’s preparation honors the Bridegroom; she is not casual about meeting Him. Heaven’s joy is not abstract but personal—God’s Son receives His prepared people, and their gladness becomes a testimony to His redeeming love.

Context

This verse turns from God’s reign (verse 6) to its happiest expression: the marriage of the Lamb. It stands in deliberate contrast to Babylon, the great harlot, whose judgment has just been praised. The focus now is not destruction but union. The bride’s readiness will be explained in verse 8 in terms of fine linen and righteous acts, showing how grace and faithful living meet. The announcement also sets the stage for the beatitude in verse 9 and the solemn insistence that these words are true. Shortly after, the scene will shift dramatically to the Rider’s return (verse 11).

v.6And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunders, saying, Hallelujah: for the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigneth.

v.7This passage

v.8And it was given unto her that she should array herself in fine linen, bright and pure: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
