1A canticle for David himself, when the house was built after the captivity. Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: sing to the Lord, all the earth.
1Come, let us sing aloud to Jehovah, let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation;
1Come, we sing to Jehovah, We shout to the rock of our salvation.
2Sing ye to the Lord and bless his name: shew forth his salvation from day to day.
2 Let us come before his face with thanksgiving; let us shout aloud unto him with psalms.
2We come before His face with thanksgiving, With psalms we shout to Him.
3Declare his glory among the Gentiles: his wonders among all people.
3 For Jehovah is a greatGod, and a great king above allgods.
3For a great God <FI>is<Fi> Jehovah, And a great king over all gods.
4For the Lord is great, and exceedingly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.
4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also:
4In whose hand <FI>are<Fi> the deep places of earth, And the strong places of hills <FI>are<Fi> His.
5For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils: but the Lord made the heavens.
5 The sea is his, and he made it, and his hands formed the dry [land].
5Whose is the sea, and He made it, And His hands formed the dry land.
6Praise and beauty are before him: holiness and majesty in his sanctuary.
6 Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker.
6Come in, we bow ourselves, and we bend, We kneel before Jehovah our Maker.
7Bring ye to the Lord, O ye kindreds of the Gentiles, bring ye to the Lord glory and honour:
7 For he is ourGod; and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. To-day if ye hear his voice,
7For He <FI>is<Fi> our God, and we the people of His pasture, And the flock of His hand, To-day, if to His voice ye hearken,
8Bring to the Lord glory unto his name. Bring up sacrifices, and come into his courts:
8 Harden not your heart, as at Meribah, as [in] the day of Massah, in the wilderness;
8Harden not your heart as <FI>in<Fi> Meribah, As <FI>in<Fi> the day of Massah in the wilderness,
9Adore ye the Lord in his holy court. Let all the earth be moved at his presence.
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
9Where your fathers have tried Me, Have proved Me, yea, have seen My work.
10Say ye among the Gentiles, the Lord hath reigned. For he hath corrected the world, which shall not be moved: he will judge the people with justice.
10 Forty years was I grieved with the generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways;
10Forty years I am weary of the generation, And I say, `A people erring in heart--they! And they have not known My ways:'
11Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad, let the sea be moved, and the fulness thereof:
11 So that I swore in mine anger, that they should not enter into my rest.
11Where I sware in Mine anger, `If they come in unto My rest--!'
