1To the Overseer, `On the Death of Labben.' --A Psalm of David. I confess, O Jehovah, with all my heart, I recount all Thy wonders,

1 I will give you praise, O Lord, with all my heart; I will make clear all the wonder of your works.

1 I will praise Jehovah with my whole heart; I will recount all thy marvellous works.

2I rejoice and exult in Thee, I praise Thy Name, O Most High.

2I will be glad and have delight in you: I will make a song of praise to your name, O Most High.

2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee; I will sing forth thy name, O Most High.

3In mine enemies turning backward, they stumble and perish from Thy face.

3When my haters are turned back, they will be broken and overcome before you.

3 When mine enemies turned back, they stumbled and perished at thy presence:

4For Thou hast done my judgment and my right. Thou hast sat on a throne, A judge of righteousness.

4For you gave approval to my right and my cause; you were seated in your high place judging in righteousness.

4 For thou hast maintained my right and my cause. Thou sittest on the throne, judging righteously.

5Thou hast rebuked nations, Thou hast destroyed the wicked, Their name Thou hast blotted out to the age and for ever.

5You have said sharp words to the nations, you have sent destruction on the sinners, you have put an end to their name for ever and ever.

5 Thou hast rebuked the nations, thou hast destroyed the wicked; thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.

6O thou Enemy, Finished have been destructions for ever, As to cities thou hast plucked up, Perished hath their memorial with them.

6You have given their towns to destruction; the memory of them has gone; they have become waste for ever.

6 O enemy! destructions are ended for ever. — Thou hast also destroyed cities, even the remembrance of them hath perished.

7And Jehovah to the age abideth, He is preparing for judgment His throne.

7But the Lord is King for ever: he has made ready his high seat for judging.

7 But Jehovah sitteth for ever; he hath ordained his throne for judgment.

8And He judgeth the world in righteousness, He judgeth the peoples in uprightness.

8And he will be the judge of the world in righteousness, giving true decisions for the peoples.

8 And it is he that will judge the world with righteousness; he shall execute judgment upon the peoples with equity.

9And Jehovah is a tower for the bruised, A tower for times of adversity.

9The Lord will be a high tower for those who are crushed down, a high tower in times of trouble;

9 And Jehovah will be a refuge to the oppressed one, a refuge in times of distress.

10They trust in Thee who do know Thy name, For Thou hast not forsaken Those seeking Thee, O Jehovah.

10And those who have knowledge of your name will put their faith in you; because you, Lord, have ever given your help to those who were waiting for you.

10 And they that know thy name will confide in thee; for thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

11Sing ye praise to Jehovah, inhabiting Zion, Declare ye among the peoples His acts,

11Make songs of praise to the Lord, whose house is in Zion: make his doings clear to the people.

11 Sing psalms to Jehovah who dwelleth in Zion; tell among the peoples his doings.

12For He who is seeking for blood Them hath remembered, He hath not forgotten the cry of the afflicted.

12When he makes search for blood, he has them in his memory: he is not without thought for the cry of the poor.

12 For when he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them; the cry of the afflicted ones hath he not forgotten.

13Favour me, O Jehovah, See mine affliction by those hating me, Thou who liftest me up from the gates of death,

13Have mercy on me, O Lord, and see how I am troubled by my haters; let me be lifted up from the doors of death;

13 Be gracious unto me, O Jehovah; consider mine affliction from them that hate me, lifting me up from the gates of death:

14So that I recount all Thy praise, In the gates of the daughter of Zion. I rejoice on Thy salvation.

14So that I may make clear all your praise in the house of the daughter of Zion: I will be glad because of your salvation.

14 That I may declare all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will be joyful in thy salvation.

15Sunk have nations in a pit they made, In a net that they hid hath their foot been captured.

15The nations have gone down into the hole which they made: in their secret net is their foot taken.

15 The nations are sunk down in the pit [that] they made; in the net that they hid is their own foot taken.

16Jehovah hath been known, Judgment He hath done, By a work of his hands Hath the wicked been snared. Meditation. Selah.

16The Lord has given knowledge of himself through his judging: the evil-doer is taken in the net which his hands had made. (Higgaion. Selah.)

16 Jehovah is known [by] the judgment he hath executed: the wicked is ensnared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

17The wicked do turn back to Sheol, All nations forgetting God.

17The sinners and all the nations who have no memory of God will be turned into the underworld.

17 The wicked shall be turned into Sheol, all the nations that forgetGod.

18For not for ever is the needy forgotten, The hope of the humble lost to the age.

18For the poor will not be without help; the hopes of those in need will not be crushed for ever.

18 For the needy one shall not be forgotten alway; the hope of the meek shall not perish for ever.

19Rise, O Jehovah, let not man be strong, Let nations be judged before Thy face.

19Up! O Lord; let not man overcome you: let the nations be judged before you.

19 Arise, Jehovah; let not man prevail: let the nations be judged in thy sight.

20Appoint, O Jehovah, a director to them, Let nations know they <FI>are<Fi> men! Selah.

20Put them in fear, O Lord, so that the nations may see that they are only men. (Selah.)

20 Put them in fear, Jehovah: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.
