Psalms 86

1Bow down thine ear, O Jehovah, and answer me; For I am poor and needy.

1Listen to me, LORD, and answer me, because I am poor and in great need.

2Preserve my soul; for I am godly: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.

2Protect my life, for I am faithful to you. My God, save your servant who puts his trust in you.

3Be merciful unto me, O Lord; For unto thee do I cry all the day long.

3Be merciful to me, Lord, because I call out to you all day long.

4Rejoice the soul of thy servant; For unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

4Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I give myself completely to you.

5For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in lovingkindness unto all them that call upon thee.

5Lord, you are good and ready to forgive; you are full of constant love for everyone who calls to you for help.

6Give ear, O Jehovah, unto my prayer; And hearken unto the voice of my supplications.

6Listen to my prayer, LORD, and pay attention to my cry for mercy.

7In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee; For thou wilt answer me.

7In my time of trouble I will call you, because I know you will answer me.

8There is none like unto thee among the gods, O Lord; Neitherare there any workslike unto thy works.

8There is no god like you, Lord; no one can do the amazing things you do.

9All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; And they shall glorify thy name.

9All the nations you have made will come and bow down before you, Lord; they will honor your name.

10For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: Thou art God alone.

10For you are great and do wonderful miracles; you alone are God.

11Teach me thy way, O Jehovah; I will walk in thy truth: Unite my heart to fear thy name.

11Teach me your ways, LORD, so that I may live by your truth; give me a focused heart so that I may honor your name.

12I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with my whole heart; And I will glorify thy name for evermore.

12I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will honor your name forever.

13For great is thy lovingkindness toward me; And thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol.

13For your love for me is great; you have rescued me from the depths of the grave.

14O God, the proud are risen up against me, And a company of violent men have sought after my soul, And have not set thee before them.

14O God, arrogant people are attacking me; a gang of violent men is trying to kill me, and they have no respect for you.

15But thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.

15But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to get angry and full of unfailing love and faithfulness.

16Oh turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; Give thy strength unto thy servant, And save the son of thy handmaid.

16Look at me and have mercy on me; give your strength to your servant and save the son of your maidservant.

17Show me a token for good, That they who hate me may see it, and be put to shame, Because thou, Jehovah, hast helped me, and comforted me.

17Give me a sign of your goodness, so my enemies will see it and be ashamed, because you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
