1 How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Jehovah of hosts!

1Unto the end, for the sons of Core, a psalm.

1 How dear are your tents, O Lord of armies!

2My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of Jehovah; My heart and my flesh cry out unto the living God.

2Lord, thou hast blessed thy land: thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob.

2The passion of my soul's desire is for the house of the Lord; my heart and my flesh are crying out for the living God.

3Yea, the sparrow hath found her a house, And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, Even thine altars, O Jehovah of hosts, My King, and my God.

3Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people: thou hast covered all their sins.

3The little birds have places for themselves, where they may put their young, even your altars, O Lord of armies, my King and my God.

4Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: They will be still praising thee. [Selah

4Thou hast mitigated all thy anger: thou hast turned away from the wrath of thy indignation.

4Happy are they whose resting-place is in your house: they will still be praising you. (Selah.)

5Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; In whose heart are the highways to Zion.

5Convert us, O God our saviour: and turn off thy anger from us.

5Happy is the man whose strength is in you; in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

6Passing through the valley of Weeping they make it a place of springs; Yea, the early rain covereth it with blessings.

6Wilt thou be angry with us for ever: or wilt thou extend thy wrath from generation to generation?

6Going through the valley of balsam-trees, they make it a place of springs; it is clothed with blessings by the early rain.

7They go from strength to strength; Every one of them appeareth before God in Zion.

7Thou wilt turn, O God, and bring us to life: and thy people shall rejoice in thee.

7They go from strength to strength; every one of them comes before God in Zion.

8O Jehovah God of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O God of Jacob. [Selah

8Shew us, O Lord, thy mercy; and grant us thy salvation.

8O Lord God of armies, let my prayer come to you: give ear, O God of Jacob. (Selah.)

9Behold, O God our shield, And look upon the face of thine anointed.

9I will hear what the Lord God will speak in me: for he will speak peace unto his people: And unto his saints: and unto them that are converted to the heart.

9O God, let your eyes be on him who is our safe cover, and let your heart be turned to your king.

10For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

10Surely his salvation is near to them that fear him : that glory may dwell in our land.

10For a day in your house is better than a thousand. It is better to be a door-keeper in the house of my God, than to be living in the tents of sin.

11For Jehovah God is a sun and a shield: Jehovah will give grace and glory; No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

11Mercy and truth have met each other: justice and peace have kissed.

11The Lord God is our sun and our strength: the Lord will give grace and glory: he will not keep back any good thing from those whose ways are upright.

12O Jehovah of hosts, Blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

12Truth is sprung out of the earth: and justice hath looked down from heaven.

12O Lord of armies, happy is the man whose hope is in you.
