1 God is in the meeting-place of God; he is judging among the gods.

1A canticle of a psalm for Asaph.

1God standeth in the congregation of God; He judgeth among the gods.

2How long will you go on judging falsely, having respect for the persons of evil-doers? (Selah.)

2O God, who shall be like to thee? hold not thy peace, neither be thou still, O God.

2How long will ye judge unjustly, And respect the persons of the wicked? [Selah

3Give ear to the cause of the poor and the children without fathers; let those who are troubled and in need have their rights.

3For lo, thy enemies have made a noise: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

3Judge the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.

4Be the saviour of the poor and those who have nothing: take them out of the hand of the evil-doers.

4They have taken a malicious counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy saints.

4Rescue the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

5They have no knowledge or sense; they go about in the dark: all the bases of the earth are moved.

5They have said: Come and let us destroy them, so that they be not a nation: and let the name of Israel be remembered no more.

5They know not, neither do they understand; They walk to and fro in darkness: All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6I said, You are gods; all of you are the sons of the Most High:

6For they have contrived with one consent: they have made a covenant together against thee,

6I said, Ye are gods, And all of you sons of the Most High.

7But you will come to death like men, falling like one of the rulers of the earth.

7The tabernacle of the Edomites, and the Ishmahelites: Moab, and the Agarens,

7Nevertheless ye shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.

8Up! O God, come as judge of the earth; for all the nations are your heritage.

8Gebal, and Ammon and Amalec: the Philistines, with the inhabitants of Tyre.

8Arise, O God, judge the earth; For thou shalt inherit all the nations.
