1O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth, Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens!

1O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the entire earth! You have placed your glory above the heavens.

2Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established strength, Because of thine adversaries, That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

2You have used the speech of children and infants to build a fortress of strength against your enemies, to silence the foe and the one seeking revenge.

3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

3When I look at your heavens, which your fingers made, and look at the moon and the stars that you set in their places;

4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?

4what are human beings that you think about them, or a son of man that you care for him?

5For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor.

5Yet you made him only a little lower than the angels and crowned him with glory and honor.

6Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet:

6You gave him authority over everything you made; you put all things under his control:

7All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the field,

7all flocks and herds, and even the wild animals in the fields,

8The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

8the birds in the sky and the fish in the ocean, and everything that swims through the currents of the seas.

9O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth!

9O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the entire earth!
