1In Judah is God known: His name is great in Israel.

1To the Overseer with stringed instruments. --A Psalm of Asaph. --A Song. In Judah <FI>is<Fi> God known, in Israel His name <FI>is<Fi> great.

1Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph.

2In Salem also is his tabernacle, And his dwelling-place in Zion.

2And His tabernacle is in Salem, And His habitation in Zion.

2I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me.

3There he brake the arrows of the bow; The shield, and the sword, and the battle. [Selah

3There he hath shivered arrows of a bow, Shield, and sword, and battle. Selah.

3In the days of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted:

4Glorious art thou and excellent, From the mountains of prey.

4Bright <FI>art<Fi> Thou, honourable above hills of prey.

4I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away.

5The stouthearted are made a spoil, They have slept their sleep; And none of the men of might have found their hands.

5Spoiled themselves have the mighty of heart, They have slept their sleep, And none of the men of might found their hands.

5My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not.

6At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

6From Thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both rider and horse have been fast asleep.

6I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years.

7Thou, even thou, art to be feared; And who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

7Thou, fearful <FI>art<Fi> Thou, And who doth stand before Thee, Since Thou hast been angry!

7And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit.

8Thou didst cause sentence to be heard from heaven; The earth feared, and was still,

8From heaven Thou hast sounded judgment, Earth hath feared, and hath been still,

8Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again?

9When God arose to judgment, To save all the meek of the earth. [Selah

9In the rising of God to judgment, To save all the humble of earth. Selah.

9Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation?

10Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: The residue of wrath shalt thou gird upon thee.

10For the fierceness of man praiseth Thee, The remnant of fierceness Thou girdest on.

10Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies?

11Vow, and pay unto Jehovah your God: Let all that are round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

11Vow and complete to Jehovah your God, All ye surrounding him. They bring presents to the Fearful One.

11And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High.

12He will cut off the spirit of princes: He is terrible to the kings of the earth.

12He doth gather the spirit of leaders, Fearful to the kings of earth!

12I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning.
