1An Instruction of Asaph. Why, O God, hast Thou cast off for ever? Thine anger smoketh against the flock of Thy pasture.
1Unto the end, corrupt not, a psalm of a canticle for Asaph.
2Remember Thy company. Thou didst purchase of old, Thou didst redeem the rod of Thy inheritance, This mount Zion--Thou didst dwell in it.
2We will praise thee, O God: we will praise, and we will call upon thy name. We will relate thy wondrous works:
3Lift up Thy steps to the perpetual desolations, Everything the enemy did wickedly in the sanctuary.
3When I shall take a time, I will judge justices.
4Roared have thine adversaries, In the midst of Thy meeting-places, They have set their ensigns as ensigns.
4The earth is melted, and all that dwell therein: I have established the pillars thereof.
5He is known as one bringing in on high Against a thicket of wood--axes.
5I said to the wicked: Do not act wickedly: and to the sinners: Lift not up the horn.
6And now, its carvings together With axe and hatchet they break down,
6Lift not up your horn on high: speak not iniquity against God.
7They have sent into fire Thy sanctuary, to the earth they polluted the tabernacle of Thy name,
7For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the desert hills:
8They said in their hearts, `Let us oppress them together,' They did burn all the meeting-places of God in the land.
8For God is the judge. One he putteth down, and another he lifteth up:
9Our ensigns we have not seen, There is no more a prophet, Nor with us is one knowing how long.
9For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup of strong wine full of mixture. And he hath poured it out from this to that: but the dregs thereof are not emptied: all the sinners of the earth shall drink.
10Till when, O God, doth an adversary reproach? Doth an enemy despise thy name for ever?
10But I will declare for ever: I will sing to the God of Jacob.
11Why dost Thou turn back Thy hand, Even Thy right hand? From the midst of Thy bosom remove <FI>it<Fi> .
11And I will break all the horns of sinners: but the horns of the just shall be exalted.
12And God <FI>is<Fi> my king of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth.
