1In thee, O Jehovah, do I take refuge: Let me never be put to shame.
1In you, O Lord, have I put my hope; let me never be shamed.
1A psalm on Solomon.
2Deliver me in thy righteousness, and rescue me: Bow down thine ear unto me, and save me.
2Keep me safe in your righteousness, and come to my help; give ear to my voice, and be my saviour.
2Give to the king thy judgment, O God, and to the king's son thy justice: To judge thy people with justice, and thy poor with judgment.
3Be thou to me a rock of habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: Thou hast given commandment to save me; For thou art my rock and my fortress.
3Be my strong Rock, the strong place of my salvation; for you are my Rock, and my safe place.
3Let the mountains receive peace for the people: and the hills justice.
4Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
4O my God, take me out of the hand of the sinner, out of the hand of the evil and cruel man.
4He shall judge the poor of the people, and he shall save the children of the poor: and he shall humble the oppressor.
5For thou art my hope, O Lord Jehovah: Thou artmy trust from my youth.
5For you are my hope, O Lord God; I have had faith in you from the time when I was young.
5And he shall continue with the sun and before the moon, throughout all generations.
6By thee have I been holden up from the womb; Thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: My praise shall be continually of thee.
6You have been my support from the day of my birth; you took me out of my mother's body; my praise will be ever of you.
6He shall come down like rain upon the fleece; and as showers falling gently upon the earth.
7I am as a wonder unto many; But thou art my strong refuge.
7I am a wonder to all; but you are my strong tower.
7In his days shall justice spring up, and abundance of peace, till the moon be taken away.
8My mouth shall be filled with thy praise, And with thy honor all the day.
8My mouth will be full of your praise and glory all the day.
8And he shall rule from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
9Cast me not off in the time of old age; Forsake me not when my strength faileth.
9Do not give me up when I am old; be my help even when my strength is gone.
9Before him the Ethiopians shall fall down: and his enemies shall lick the ground.
10For mine enemies speak concerning me; And they that watch for my soul take counsel together,
10For my haters are waiting secretly for me; and those who are watching for my soul are banded together in their evil designs,
10The kings of Tharsis and the islands shall offer presents: the kings of the Arabians and of Saba shall bring gifts:
11Saying, God hath forsaken him: Pursue and take him; for there is none to deliver.
11Saying, God has given him up; go after him and take him, for he has no helper.
11And all kings of the earth shall adore him: all nations shall serve him.
12O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me.
12O God, be not far from me; O my God, come quickly to my help.
12For he shall deliver the poor from the mighty: and the needy that had no helper.
13Let them be put to shameandconsumed that are adversaries to my soul; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor that seek my hurt.
13Let those who say evil against my soul be overcome and put to shame; let my haters be made low and have no honour.
13He shall spare the poor and needy: and he shall save the souls of the poor.
14But I will hope continually, And will praise thee yet more and more.
14But I will go on ever hoping, and increasing in all your praise.
14He shall redeem their souls from usuries and iniquity: and their names shall be honourable in his sight.
15My mouth shall tell of thy righteousness, Andof thy salvation all the day; For I know not the numbers thereof.
15My mouth will make clear your righteousness and your salvation all the day; for they are more than may be measured.
15And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Arabia, for him they shall always adore: they shall bless him all the day.
16I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord Jehovah: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
16I will give news of the great acts of the Lord God; my words will be of your righteousness, and of yours only.
16And there shall be a firmament on the earth on the tops of mountains, above Libanus shall the fruit thereof be exalted: and they of the city shall flourish like the grass of the earth.
17O God, thou hast taught me from my youth; And hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
17O God, you have been my teacher from the time when I was young; and I have been talking of your works of wonder even till now.
17Let his name be blessed for evermore: his name continueth before the sun. And in him shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed: all nations shall magnify him.
18Yea, even when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not, Until I have declared thy strength unto the next generation, Thy might to every one that is to come.
18Now when I am old and grey-headed, O God, give me not up; till I have made clear your strength to this generation, and your power to all those to come.
18Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone doth wonderful things.
19Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high; Thou who hast done great things, O God, who is like unto thee?
19Your righteousness, O God, is very high; you have done great things; O God, who is like you?
19And blessed be the name of his majesty for ever: and the whole earth shall be filled with his majesty. So be it. So be it.
20Thou, who hast showed us many and sore troubles, Wilt quicken us again, And wilt bring us up again from the depths of the earth.
20You, who have sent great and bitter troubles on me, will give me life again, lifting me up from the deep waters of the underworld.
20The praises of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.
21Increase thou my greatness, And turn again and comfort me.
21You will make me greater than before, and give me comfort on every side.

22I will also praise thee with the psaltery, Even thy truth, O my God: Unto thee will I sing praises with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
22I will give praise to you with instruments of music, O my God, for you are true; I will make songs to you with music, O Holy One of Israel.

23My lips shall shout for joy when I sing praises unto thee; And my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
23Joy will be on my lips when I make melody to you; and in my soul, to which you have given salvation.
23(not in this translation)
24My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long; For they are put to shame, for they are confounded, that seek my hurt.
24My tongue will be talking of your righteousness all the day; for those whose purpose is to do me evil have been crushed and put to shame.
