1In thee, O Jehovah, do I take refuge: Let me never be put to shame.

1Lord, I come to you for protection; never let me be disgraced.

2Deliver me in thy righteousness, and rescue me: Bow down thine ear unto me, and save me.

2In your justice, rescue me and set me free; listen to me and save me.

3Be thou to me a rock of habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: Thou hast given commandment to save me; For thou art my rock and my fortress.

3Be a rock where I can live, a place where I can always go. You have commanded that I be saved, because you are my rock and my fortress.

4Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

4My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, and from the grasp of cruel and evil people.

5For thou art my hope, O Lord Jehovah: Thou artmy trust from my youth.

5For you are my hope, Lord Jehovah; I have trusted you ever since I was young.

6By thee have I been holden up from the womb; Thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: My praise shall be continually of thee.

6I have leaned on you from my birth; you are the one who took me from my mother's womb. I will praise you continually.

7I am as a wonder unto many; But thou art my strong refuge.

7I have become a sign of wonder to many people, but you are my strong refuge.

8My mouth shall be filled with thy praise, And with thy honor all the day.

8My mouth is filled with your praise and with your glory all day long.

9Cast me not off in the time of old age; Forsake me not when my strength faileth.

9Do not throw me away now that I am old; do not abandon me when my strength is gone.

10For mine enemies speak concerning me; And they that watch for my soul take counsel together,

10For my enemies talk about me; those who want to kill me are making plans together.

11Saying, God hath forsaken him: Pursue and take him; for there is none to deliver.

11They say, 'God has abandoned him; chase him and catch him, because there is no one to save him.'

12O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me.

12O God, do not stay far away from me; my God, hurry to help me.

13Let them be put to shameandconsumed that are adversaries to my soul; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor that seek my hurt.

13May my accusers be humiliated and destroyed; may those who want to hurt me be covered with shame and disgrace.

14But I will hope continually, And will praise thee yet more and more.

14But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.

15My mouth shall tell of thy righteousness, Andof thy salvation all the day; For I know not the numbers thereof.

15I will tell of your justice and your salvation all day long, even though they are too many for me to count.

16I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord Jehovah: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

16I will come and speak of your mighty acts, Lord Jehovah; I will tell everyone about your righteousness—yours alone.

17O God, thou hast taught me from my youth; And hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

17O God, you have taught me since I was young, and even now I tell others about your wonderful works.

18Yea, even when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not, Until I have declared thy strength unto the next generation, Thy might to every one that is to come.

18Even now that I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me until I have told the next generation about your strength and your power to everyone who is yet to come.

19Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high; Thou who hast done great things, O God, who is like unto thee?

19O God, your righteousness reaches to the skies; you have done great things. O God, who is like you?

20Thou, who hast showed us many and sore troubles, Wilt quicken us again, And wilt bring us up again from the depths of the earth.

20Though you have made me see many bitter troubles, you will give me life again and bring me up from the depths of the earth.

21Increase thou my greatness, And turn again and comfort me.

21Increase my honor and comfort me once again.

22I will also praise thee with the psaltery, Even thy truth, O my God: Unto thee will I sing praises with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.

22I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.

23My lips shall shout for joy when I sing praises unto thee; And my soul, which thou hast redeemed.

23My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to you, and my whole being, which you have rescued, will rejoice.

24My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long; For they are put to shame, for they are confounded, that seek my hurt.

24My tongue will speak of your justice all day long, for those who wanted to hurt me have been disgraced and put to shame.
