1O Jehovah my God, in thee do I take refuge: Save me from all them that pursue me, and deliver me,
1Lord my God, I come to you for protection. Save me from everyone who is chasing me, and rescue me.
2Lest they tear my soul like a lion, Rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
2Otherwise, they will tear me apart like a lion, ripping me to pieces with no one to save me.
3O Jehovah my God, if I have done this; If there be iniquity in my hands;
3Lord my God, if I have done what I am accused of, or if my hands are guilty of doing wrong,
4If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me (Yea, I have delivered him that without cause was mine adversary);
4if I have done harm to a friend, or if I have robbed my enemy without a reason;
5Let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it; Yea, let him tread my life down to the earth, And lay my glory in the dust. [Selah
5then let my enemy hunt me down and catch me. Let him trample me into the ground and drag my honor through the dust.
6Arise, O Jehovah, in thine anger; Lift up thyself against the rage of mine adversaries, And awake for me; thou hast commanded judgment.
6Rise up, Lord, in your anger! Stand up against the fury of my enemies. Wake up and help me, for you have demanded that justice be done.
7And let the congregation of the peoples compass thee about; And over them return thou on high.
7Let all the nations gather around you, and rule over them from your throne on high.
8Jehovah ministereth judgment to the peoples: Judge me, O Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and to mine integrity that is in me.
8The Lord judges the nations. Judge me, Lord, according to my righteousness and my honesty.
9Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish thou the righteous: For the righteous God trieth the minds and hearts.
9Please stop the evil of the wicked, but make the godly people secure. You are a righteous God who examines our deepest thoughts and feelings.
10My shield is with God, Who saveth the upright in heart.
10God is my shield; he saves those whose hearts are right.
11God is a righteous judge, Yea, a God that hath indignation every day.
11God is a fair judge, and he shows his anger against evil every single day.
12If a man turn not, he will whet his sword; He hath bent his bow, and made it ready;
12If a person does not change his ways, God will sharpen his sword; he has strung his bow and is ready to aim.
13He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; He maketh his arrows fiery shafts.
13He has prepared his deadly weapons and made his arrows flaming shafts.
14Behold, he travaileth with iniquity; Yea, he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
14Look at the person who is pregnant with evil; he dreams up trouble and gives birth to lies.
15He hath made a pit, and digged it, And is fallen into the ditch which he made.
15He digs a deep pit to trap others, but he is the one who falls into the hole he made.
