Psalms 64

1Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint: Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

1Hear my voice, O God, as I explain my concerns; protect my life from the threats of the enemy.

2Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers, From the tumult of the workers of iniquity;

2Hide me from the secret plots of wicked people and from the mob of those who do evil.

3Who have whet their tongue like a sword, And have aimed their arrows, even bitter words,

3They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows.

4That they may shoot in secret places at the perfect: Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

4They shoot from the shadows at innocent people; they shoot suddenly and without any fear.

5They encourage themselves in an evil purpose; They commune of laying snares privily; They say, Who will see them?

5They encourage each other in their evil plans; they talk about hiding traps and say, 'Who will see them?'

6They search out iniquities; We have accomplished, say they, a diligent search: And the inward thought and the heart of every one is deep.

6They plot injustices and say, 'We have devised a perfect plan!' The human mind and heart are surely deep.

7But God will shoot at them; With an arrow suddenly shall they be wounded.

7But God will shoot his own arrow at them; they will be struck down suddenly.

8So they shall be made to stumble, their own tongue being against them: All that see them shall wag the head.

8Their own words will be used against them and cause them to fall; everyone who sees them will shake their heads in scorn.

9And all men shall fear; And they shall declare the work of God, And shall wisely consider of his doing.

9Then everyone will be afraid; they will tell what God has done and think carefully about his actions.

10The righteous shall be glad in Jehovah, and shall take refuge in him; And all the upright in heart shall glory.

10The godly will rejoice in the LORD and find safety in him; all those with honest hearts will praise him.
