1To the Overseer, for Jeduthun. --A Psalm of David. Only--toward God <FI>is<Fi> my soul silent, From Him <FI>is<Fi> my salvation.
1 My soul, put all your faith in God; for from him comes my salvation.
1A psalm of David while he was in the desert of Edom.
2Only--He <FI>is<Fi> my rock, and my salvation, My tower, I am not much moved.
2He only is my Rock and my salvation; he is my high tower; I will not be greatly moved.
2O God, my God, to thee do I watch at break of day. For thee my soul hath thirsted; for thee my flesh, O how many ways!
3Till when do ye devise mischief against a man? Ye are destroyed all of you, As a wall inclined, a hedge that is cast down.
3How long will you go on designing evil against a man? running against him as against a broken wall, which is on the point of falling?
3In a desert land, and where there is no way, and no water: so in the sanctuary have I come before thee, to see thy power and thy glory.
4Only--from his excellency They have consulted to drive away, They enjoy a lie, with their mouth they bless, And with their heart revile. Selah.
4Their only thought is to put him down from his place of honour; their delight is in deceit: blessing is in their mouths but cursing in their hearts. (Selah.)
4For thy mercy is better than lives: thee my lips will praise.
5Only--for God, be silent, O my soul, For from Him <FI>is<Fi> my hope.
5My soul, put all your faith in God; for from him comes my hope.
5Thus will I bless thee all my life long: and in thy name I will lift up my hands.
6Only--He <FI>is<Fi> my rock and my salvation, My tower, I am not moved.
6He only is my Rock and my salvation; he is my high tower; I will not be greatly moved.
6Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness: and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.
7On God <FI>is<Fi> my salvation, and my honour, The rock of my strength, my refuge <FI>is<Fi> in God.
7In God is my salvation, and my glory; the Rock of my strength, and my safe place.
7If I have remembered thee upon my bed, I will meditate on thee in the morning:
8Trust in Him at all times, O people, Pour forth before Him your heart, God <FI>is<Fi> a refuge for us. Selah.
8Have faith in him at all times, you people; let your hearts go flowing out before him: God is our safe place. (Selah.)
8Because thou hast been my helper. And I will rejoice under the cover of thy wings:
9Only--vanity <FI>are<Fi> the low, a lie the high. In balances to go up they than vanity <FI>are<Fi> lighter.
9Truly men of low birth are nothing, and men of high position are not what they seem; if they are put in the scales together they are less than a breath.
9My soul hath stuck close to thee: thy right hand hath received me.
10Trust not in oppression, And in robbery become not vain, Wealth--when it increaseth--set not the heart.
10Have no faith in the rewards of evil-doing, or in profits wrongly made: if your wealth is increased, do not put your hopes on it.
10But they have sought my soul in vain, they shall go into the lower parts of the earth:
11Once hath God spoken, twice I heard this, That `strength <FI>is<Fi> with God.'
11Once has God said, twice has it come to my ears, that power is God's:
11They shall be delivered into the hands of the sword, they shall be the portions of foxes.
12And with Thee, O Lord, <FI>is<Fi> kindness, For Thou dost recompense to each, According to his work!
12And mercy, O Lord, is yours, for you give to every man the reward of his work.
12But the king shall rejoice in God, all they shall be praised that swear by him: because the mouth is stopped of them that speak wicked things.
