Psalms 62

1My soul waiteth in silence for God only: From himcomethmy salvation.

1I wait quietly for God alone; my salvation comes only from him.

2He only is my rock and my salvation: He ismy high tower; I shall not be greatly moved.

2He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, and I will never be badly shaken.

3How long will ye set upon a man, That ye may slay him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?

3How long will all of you attack a man? How long will you try to kill him, as if he were a leaning wall or a broken-down fence?

4They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. [Selah

4Their only goal is to knock him down from his high position. They love to tell lies; they say nice things to his face, but in their hearts they are cursing him.

5My soul, wait thou in silence for God only; For my expectation is from him.

5I must wait quietly for God alone, because my hope comes from him.

6He only is my rock and my salvation: He ismy high tower; I shall not be moved.

6He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, and I will not be shaken.

7With God is my salvation and my glory: The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

7My honor and my salvation depend on God. He is my mighty rock and my place of safety.

8Trust in him at all times, ye people; Pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. [Selah

8Trust in him at all times, you people! Pour out your hearts to him, because God is our place of safety.

9Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: In the balances they will go up; They are together lighter than vanity.

9Common people are only a breath, and even great people are a lie. If you put them on a scale, they would weigh nothing; together they are lighter than a breath.

10Trust not in oppression, And become not vain in robbery: If riches increase, set not your heart thereon.

10Do not trust in violence or find false hope in stolen goods. Even if your wealth grows, do not make it the center of your life.

11God hath spoken once, Twice have I heard this, That power belongeth unto God.

11God has spoken once, and I have heard it twice: that power belongs to God.

12Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth lovingkindness; For thou renderest to every man according to his work.

12Also, O Lord, you are full of faithful love; for you reward every person according to what they have done.
