1Hear my cry, O God; Attend unto my prayer.

1Listen to my cry for help, O God; pay attention to my prayer.

2From the end of the earth will I call unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

2I call to you from the ends of the earth when I am feeling overwhelmed; lead me to the mountain peak that is higher than I am.

3For thou hast been a refuge for me, A strong tower from the enemy.

3For you have been a safe place for me, like a strong tower that protects me from the enemy.

4I will dwell in thy tabernacle for ever: I will take refuge in the covert of thy wings. [Selah

4I want to live in your sanctuary forever and find safety under the shadow of your wings.

5For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: Thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.

5For you, O God, have heard the promises I made; you have given me the inheritance shared by those who honor your name.

6Thou wilt prolong the king’s life; His years shall be as many generations.

6Add more days to the king’s life; let his years continue through many generations.

7He shall abide before God for ever: Oh prepare lovingkindness and truth, that they may preserve him.

7May he rule in God’s presence forever; send your constant love and faithfulness to protect him.

8So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, That I may daily perform my vows.

8Then I will sing praises to your name forever, as I fulfill the promises I made to you day after day.
